V Festival

Hey Philip

What stage did you guys play on at V last year? I've just returned from the best weekend of my life and feel hugely gutted that I didn't go last year ! Grrrr.

(I know there is probably a topic on this, but I can't find it. I did google, honest !)

Hey there,

At the risk of jumping in before the great man speaks,I was at V last year and the boys played in the largest tent, which i think is the JJB??
They started with 'Repeal..' as Shane hadn't shuffled on stage on time, had a fairly ropey 20 minutes where timings were out and wee errors occured here and there, but the second half was terrific. Ian Brown was headlining that night and even some of the asbo's coming in during the latter stages to get a spot for king monkey ended up loving it. Which i do not know is a good or a bad thing?

Anyway,i shall shuffle off and let Mr Chevron have the floor.

Thanks very much !!

Haven't heard of the JJB tent?.. Only tent I saw was The Arena tent. Come to think of it, I didn't do too much wondering around just loved popping back and forth through the 3 main stages.. Was a properly superb weekend even though Oasis cancelled :( Wankers.

I saw them in the JJB tent in Staffs Walshy, I wrote this around this time last year

I was lucky enough to see The Pogues at V last night. Haven't been able to post on here for a while but thought I'd drop in and say hi! I thought they were great last night. Despite Philip not being there Terry was on fine form and James must have had 20 Red Bulls before he went on stage! Shane was also in fine form. I was a bit worried when the band seemed a bit unsure of his whereabouts when they came on stage and started with Repeal. The set list that followed was something like
Repeal, Streams of Whiskey, IISFFGWG, Broad Majestic Shannon, Tuesday Morning, Pair of Brown Eyes, Sick Bed, Rainy Night in Soho, Sunnyside of the Street, Bottle Of Smoke, Irish Rover, Sally Maclennane, Dirty Old Town, Fiesta,
thats not the correct order but I think Ive got them all

I do wonder if jumping into "Repeal" is the standard plan B, if Shane is wonderin around and not to the stage quite on time??

Well, calling it a Plan B would imply it has some chance of success, but as we saw on Devon, it does nothing to deflect Shane from his dogmatic determination to do the setlist as written and at all costs, even if that might involve playing "Repeal" twice.

Ahh understood Mr C. I just had the feeling some fans look to get some thrill from an "OMG Shanes not in the build yet, what do we do!" moment. I knew you gents were way too far along and much smarter then that.

Oh heck yes, it's hard enough getting our arrival on stage to coincide with Shane's without then conspiring to fuck it up! Besides, we know where he is. Invariably, he's having a pee. The sound of Joe Strummer's rallying cry does not have quite the Pavlovian effect on Shane it does on the rest of us.
