If only  I've been in livelier libraries.

For show photographers the "pit" is the space between the stage and the audience, where the security monkeys stand and face down the punters. Often bands will allow credentialed photographers to shoot the first three songs of the show from this area, then be ejected. The venues themselves often set the policy about what the photographers are allowed to do after being ejected from the "pit" (keep your gear but no more shooting, or shoot from the house, or equipment must be checked-in, or gear must leave the venue, or gear and photographer must leave the venue).

Photographers are perfectly welcome to stay and watch the show if they want to or don't have deadlines. It's just that they first have to comply with whatever the venue's provision is to ensure that snapping ceases after three songs. Usually they will need separate passes to stay for the show, but they only need to ask, as SkaPunk does, for instance.

I've heard others have also imposed themselves on the band's good graces. :)

But even so, some of the venues are quite stern about their policies. The Wiltern in L.A. for example. A very, very firm "now you will hand your gear over to us or you will leave the premises" policy. In fairness, though, that's the only venue I've ever encountered that was so set in its ways.

I really enjoyed the show, despite the seats. We were about 10 rows from the front in front of Phil and Terry. Most around us seemed to be stood but one or two insisted on sitting down and glaring at others who wanted to stand and get into it. I thought the Arena itself was OK compared to say the M E N which is way, way to big. The sound was spot on too. Band (and singer!) in top form, nice to hear Thousands Live again. Liked the support band Amsterdam; very good. All in all an excellent, if a little different, gig.

See you at Christmas….Stood up

No,usual setlist minus Fairytale.

Including the 'newer' additions of Cotton Fields, Greenland, Metroplis, Kitty and Poor Paddy.

Brass section also in attendance.

The singer didnt seem as Drunk as usual

I was at the gig. I thought the venue was probably unsuitable for the band but they rose to the occassion. The singer managed to give the impression he was on our side when he started things off by saying we could burn down the venue after the gig. Being sat five rows from the front added a kind of intimacy for me, without having to contend with flying limbs etc. I just hope they dont make a habit of frequenting such sterile, corporate venues. I'm guessing it might have been one of the reasons for the poor ticket sales.

The shame is that they can remove the seats and for many gigs they do. The bunnymen last year was standing at the front and ive heard of many other gigs being the same. I thought the gig was outstanding and is up there with probably the Apollo, The Gmex (or whatever its called now) and the year Kate rejoined as being one of the best of the reunion gigs I have been to. Just a big thank you to Phil for sorting everything out for us and it was great to meet up with everyone (minus Shane, Phil and Terry) after the gig. None Pogues fans I have mentioned this geniouristy to cannot believe that a member of the band would help somebody from a forum out like that so it shows what a true gent he is.

Ps anychance of a quick rerun of Thousands of Sailors????????????????????????????
