Froggie Went A-Courtin', as sung by Bobby Hill (King of the Hill, Season 5, Episode 12 "Now Who's The Dummy")

What a weird song, i suddenly thought, so looked it up - I hadn't realized this song was originally about The Duke of Anjou courtin' Queen Liz I.

It was seven forty-five we were all in line
To greet the teacher Miss Cathleen
First was Kevin, then came Lucy, third in line was me
All of us where ordinary compared to Cynthia Rose
She always stood at the back of the line
A smile beneath her nose
Her favorite number was twenty and every single day
If you asked her what she had for breakfast
This is what she'd say

Starfish and coffee
Maple syrup and jam
Butterscotch clouds, a tangerine
And a side order of ham
If you set your mind free, baby
Maybe you'd understand
Starfish and coffee
Maple syrup and jam

Sean South from Garryowen.

i was doing an interview at St Michaels Irish Centre in Liverpool on Monday night and the kids were having their music lessons, and for the last twenty minutes I was there, this tune was all I heard.

I thought nothing of it until I started to go through the recording and guess what? It's stuck in my head.

I mean, I like the tune and everything, I just do not want to hear it again for a very, very long time.

Midnight Train to Georgia-Gladys Knight and the Pips

They played this on the radio while telling the news of Gladys' deadbeat son who opened a Chicken and Waffle House. He owes tons of money in taxes and now Gladys wants her name off the business. Her son turned around and filed with a court to declare her mentally incompentent. Sad.

Let Me Fish Off Cape St.Mary's: Duane Andrews, its actually an instrumental, this guy is an amazing guitarist, influenced by Django Rheinhart , he plays various styles, folk, jazz,,swing, classical, Newfoundland music, which is where Let Me Fish...originates from. There are two versions of this with a vocal, one by Kim Stockwood, the other by The Irish Descendants, there are many more versions of this lovely song.

Not least of which would be Stan Rogers' version, my favourite, with Stan singing impossibly low, and the simple solo fiddle at the end reprising the melody.... I'll admit it's the first version I ever heard, so i'm biased.
