White Christmas - The Drifters
We had our annual watch of The Santa Clause tonight and the opening bars of this version of the christmas classic tune invariably get nailed in my head.

For about two weeks now I've had various songs running through my head.
We Will Rock You By Queen (this is one of the shows I'm thinking of booking for my birthday week, although I notice it's touring and will be on at the Palace Theatre in Manchester from March 20th).
Singin' In The Rain (I also notice this is on at the Palace Theatre).
Dirty Old Town by The Pogues (this was playing in one of my dreams earlier in the week)
And finally, today I have the entire Trouble Pilgrim album is in my head, every song in order one after the other, I'm up to She Says I'm A Loser, maybe I should play it to get it out of my head, but that may make it worse.

Room 19, That Bob Geldof song about the heads of famous dead Russians/Soviets which were frozen and kept in a room somewhere for study. Or reanimation, Futurama-style, maybe.
Sha-la-la-la-la
Sha-la-la-la-lee
Sha-la-la-la-la
I feel free
When I woke up I was freezing
Shaking like a leaf
I was stuck up on a shelf
With the other guys in Room 19
Then the brain here right beside me
Speaking telepathically
Said "Hi, my name is Stalin
Glad to see you here in Room 19"
Yeah Tchaikovsky played the music
While Pasternak wrote poetry
As they sliced our brains to study
Why we ended up in Room 19
And Lenin never shut up talking
Every talk became a speech
"Speaking dialectically" he said
"We don't exist in Room 19"
Well 'ol Sakharov was outraged
And said "Exactly what you mean?"
And Lenin said "There is no Heavan
So I can't believe in Room 19"
Set me free, free, free ...

Lightly row, lightly row,
lightly row the boat ashore...
Anybody else have a child doing Suzuki Level 1 on violin? This has been in my head all week. The great part is i play along on mandolin on this one with her some days, and i've finally found an accompanist at my level.

Tennesee Stud by Terry Woods & Phil Lynott, it's been my fave on the Chiswick Story collection i picked up a couple of weeks ago. 1981 never sounded so good, and i don't think i've ever heard Terry sounding so, well, rocking. Phil, of course, was one of the best rock vocalists ever, so no surprises there.

Indeed? Must be more common than I thought. My old granny's neighbour was forever buying new flowerpots to match her changing mood.

Two different songs keep vying for my mental attention lately..Kurt Kobain's cover of the Leadbelly song 'Where did you sleep last night?'....and Springsteen & the Seeger sessions band doing 'Pay Me My Money Down'.
Luckily I love both songs...drives me insane when when something loathsome gets stuck in there!
