The Dubliners version..though my missus prefers the one at the end of Veronica Guerwin.

Do They Know Its Christmas Band Aid

I know others have mentioned this before, but the more you listen to the lyrics, the worse this song gets. Unfortunately, I heard it this morning and now
1. It is stuck in my head
2. For the 5000th consecutive winter, there won't be snow in Africa this Christmas..

Yes, Midge Ure & Bob Geldof at their best.... Apparently the whole session was set, studio booked, famous people ready to attend, when Bob realized nobody had actually WRITTEN the song yet. So it was a bit of a rush job.

Still better than the Canadian effort, Tears Are Not Enough (which was written by Bryan Adams):

The 1980s were hard on Canadian musicians, even Joni Mitchell looks terrible. I think Rompin' Ronnie Hawkins is the only one who comes out of that with any dignity - the 10 gallon cowboy hat NEVER goes out of style.

Well, Red Rider came out with "Lunatic Fringe" in 1981, so Canada has that going for it. I saw Red Rider at that time, I think they opened for Blue Oyster Cult.

Tom Cochran is actually there in the chorus, along with, amongst others, Paul Shaefer, John Candy, Eugene Levy, Catherine O'Hara, and - i shit you not - the entire NHL Campbell Conference all-stars led by Wayne Gretzky singing the tune before a sea of swaying fans at the 1985 all-star game in Calgary.

Funny story. Who knew Mike Bossy was more than a sniper. With regards to the Great One (or as we call him in Boston "the 2nd Greatest Hockey Player of All Time")
remember him on SNL-wasn't pretty.
