The 1980s were hard on Canadian musicians, even Joni Mitchell looks terrible. I think Rompin' Ronnie Hawkins is the only one who comes out of that with any dignity - the 10 gallon cowboy hat NEVER goes out of style.

Well, Red Rider came out with "Lunatic Fringe" in 1981, so Canada has that going for it. I saw Red Rider at that time, I think they opened for Blue Oyster Cult.
Tom Cochran is actually there in the chorus, along with, amongst others, Paul Shaefer, John Candy, Eugene Levy, Catherine O'Hara, and - i shit you not - the entire NHL Campbell Conference all-stars led by Wayne Gretzky singing the tune before a sea of swaying fans at the 1985 all-star game in Calgary.
