Here's one seriously talented young guy playing two dance tracks in a trad style (whistle, flute etc.)

Avicii - Levels http://youtu.be/ZrsC3BjUjtc

Duck Sauce - Barbra Streisand http://youtu.be/Xe8w9tjVqzE

And one for the all you on the other side of the pond....

Maroon 5 - Moves Like Jagger http://youtu.be/jr2jk2o8oHQ

All three well worth a watch 8)

Lucy Ward: For The Dead Men

Rather beautiful anti-Tory-cuts song.

Sinead O'Connor on David Letterman

Post Wed Feb 15, 2012 7:10 am

I'd swear this performance was the first exposure I had to Sinead, but in my memory immediately after finishing the song she turned around and walked off stage. There was no meet-n-greet with Dave, etc. I remember watching the performance and thinking "Wow. She is a fucking bad-ass. Who the hell is that?" and then spending several months trying to remember her name. I finally made progress at a record store talking to the clerk and saying "I dunno, some bald woman. She was on David Letterman a while back." He showed me The Lion and the Cobra. I immediately bought it and still own that CD. I don't regret it at all.

I first heard Sinead while sitting in a dusty truck during a tree planting stint somewhere in central BC 1986? - the cassette of Lion and the Cobra was sitting in the console, and i popped it in. Saw her live at The Gorge, Washington on one of the Lollapalooza tours, very powerful performer.

apparently that was Lollapalooza 1995.... am i that old?

...ain't it funny how you used to know everybody in these parts...

Sue Simms, longtime evening anchor of New York's WNBC, has been given the boot. A FB discussion of her 32 year career eventually led to this: a slightly uncomfortable 1982 interview with Joe Strummer and Paul Simonon:

"I distrust those people who know so well what God wants them to do because I notice it always coincides with their own desires." - Susan B. Anthony
