Strangely the moment "You've Got What I Want" came out of my speakers I thought of this:

Yours has better drums though.

Did you read the comments? Someone saying, ''hey that's my grandad on guitar''....wonderful!

It's an interesting effort to imagine what IrishRover's review of this would be.

That is one diverse record collection. Showing both good and bad taste.
But never get rid of your record collection, folks. Never. You will regret it.

I've never heard such fascistic nonsense in my life. If you don't want "clutter", don't buy records and books you don't want in the first place!

By the way Nemanjic, why is James Ransone your Avatar?

Hehehe. I'd love to show this guy my vinyl collection (10,000+ :D ) which includes 9 copies of Red Roses for Me. Just for starters.

See? He keeps talking about "just get rid of 20%". You could lose 2 copies of RRFM, still hit his goals, and no longer be a hoarder!

The guy looks cool, wish I look like him
For the time being Joey Cashman was my favourite avatar on most of my social profiles. After watching the Season II, Ziggy Sobotka took the role. Can relate to the guy. According to Wikipedia Ziggy was 'loosely based' on the true stevedore.

Considering the "clutter" problem, anyone out there have any advice for saving my books, records, CD collections from the 3 year old daughter than, don 't buy records and books

I'm going through the same thing with my 1 1/2 year old son. The records are stashed away, but the CDs, DVDs, tapes, books, etc. are all unsafe. He loves opening up the cases and putting the discs into slots - in between the doors of the entertainment center, for example.

I bought one of those "burn your LPs to MP3" thingies. Actually, I'm turning them into .wav files. It is a LOT of work, and it is great to be able to listen to the albums again. I would regret just simply getting rid of them, but as I can get copies before they go away, I'm content. I have some sound software from a musical friend who does electronic music that is working wonders at getting them to sound a bit better than I would hope. I'm not much of an audiophile though, so I don't notice enough difference to really bug me. It definitely is a pain in the ass, especially with experimental albums from Game Theory trying to get everything broken into separate tracks. And I'm getting pretty good at dealing with the skips.
So far, I've gotten over $100 for the stuff I've sold. I've still got another couple of batches to go. Mainly The Residents are left, with some kids albums here and there and some Robyn Hitchcock. I am regretting the loss of the covers, liner notes and artwork, but we are outgrowing where we are living, and we need to make more room for our kid. As long as I still have the music; that's the important bit.

We did two things:

1. Shelves attached to the wall, up high. This is where the books went (some in boxes).
2. I built some doors (wood frame, plastic screen fence stuff in the middle - so you could still see through), latched at the top, for the unit that holds my records & our stereo.

Youngest is now 7, I have long since removed the doors and we have normal, stand-on-the-floor shelves again, and life is back to normal, so such as it ever was.
