Yes. His mother was from Ireland though. Nobody really knows about his father, although he has claimed he was a Cuban immigrant.
“An’ this is the last of Brummy,” he said, leaning on his spade and looking away over the tops of the ragged gums on the distant range.

On the topic of parentage and Cuba...

I have heard that Che Guevara's ancestors were from Ireland and his name was actually Guevara Lynch but he dropped the Lynch part.

I suppose you all knew this tho.

Cheerio.

ps - I do like this site very much.

His grandfather moved to Argentina from Ireland. Argentina has a fairly high portion of Irish, especially in the capital.

Now where is our IrishMan? This is the kind of debate he loved.

I'm aware that he was Argentinian by birth. I was merely referring to his role in the Cuban revolution. His ancestory however on his Father's side was originally from Galway (hence Lynch). Though my Mum and Aunt both reckon he was from Cork  .

Ahhh the rebel county.

Ok I'm not going to start a thread about how much I'm really looking forward to this day ending and me heading to the Pub!

Something about a pub.. I feel like totally relaxed. stressed to the hills here at this place at the moment.

I can most definitely relate to that Walshy.

The stress of the week will all be over in a few mins for many of us. Hpefully we will all be seeking the serenity of a quiet corner in a pub and the magic of that first sip.

'Aaaaghhhh........... bliss!!'

Have a good weekend y'all.

OMG I think we're totally on the same level.

Instead it won't be in a quiet pub corner it will be outside on the street as the pubs here in town are packed.

Actually I've just remembered I'm going to a leaving do so its a 'private function' downstairs. How fun?

What will I drink? Someone help me make up my mind.

Options are as follows:

- Bottle of Bud, Becks or Heinken?
- Vodka and diet coke or Vodka and lemonade
- Smirnoff Ice Blue Wkd or Irn Wkd or Orang Barcardi Breezer
- Wine, with a lemonade top?
