Happy Christmas your arse

Post Fri May 14, 2010 9:37 am

Today received the first Christmas card of this year.
Or it may actually be the last one of last year, having made its tortuous way through the mail system.

Very seasonal.
Likes the warm feeling but is tired of all the dehydration.

I had the best day in work that I've ever had since I've worked where I work.

The boss moved me to a desk far far away from him, bliss. :D

I've just concluded what I think was a pretty successful phone interview. Maybe I'm on the road to Gainfully Employed! Yay!

Danke.

It's someone you've heard of, but of course we'll just call it The Company (All Praise The Company) Mk II.

Good news Boss. I hope it works out well.

On Saturday whilst doing a big shop for the boy's birthday party, I was struck by how much grocery shopping has changed. I was walking round Asda with she who must be obeyed and I realised I was cheerfully choosing a Piñata whilst listening to Iggy Pop over the tannoy. This was then interrupted by an announcement instructing all oncoming staff to report for the "morning huddle". The world has gone mad.

hmmmm, here in the US of A a "morning huddle" would certainly constitute some kind of sexual harassment, punishable by law

It's funny you should say that because I had you yanks in the frame for being responsible as the store was an ASDA (part of the Wal-Mart family  )

Remember, Troops, it's not 'can I help you?', it's 'how can I help you?'

Cultural cringe aside, it is a fact that America still leads the world in customer service, and I'd rather a smiling 'how may I help you?' than a bad-tempered grunting Irish or British shopgirl any day of the week. Everything is broken in America, but they're always pleased to give the impression that it could easily be repaired, if only that truly were your heart's desire. I find that a hopeful sign of life. 8)
