I got an email yesterday from Spin CDs that my copy of the new Popes CD was dispatched.

I would buy them at the Wendy's around Piccadilly but always felt idiotic saying jacket potato. Now it's gone. Que Sera.

It raises my hackles when people ask me You all right there? in Dublin, too. My problem. They're just asking if I need assistance, I realize.

Not that this changes any of that disappointing information, but i thought it was interesting to learn that, when the Beatles catalogue was launched on iTunes, the #1 seller was neither a Lennon/McCartney rocker, nor one of the big ballads. It was in fact the George Harrison's acoustic "Here Comes the Sun".

I know teachers buy that song a lot.
One pores over iTunes looking for classic, self-esteem building :?: songs like Big Yellow Taxi, Kodachrome, Sweet Baby James, Jambalaya, Sing, It's Not Easy Being Green, Rainbow Connection, Wide Open Spaces, The 59th Street Bridge Song, Me and Julio Down By The Schoolyard and their ilk. Though Sweet Baby James mentions beer. Once.

The kids still have Image fever though.

Nike Black & Tans

Post Wed Mar 14, 2012 4:29 pm

Nike is apologizing for a new St. Patrick's Day-themed sneaker that offended many in the buildup to its release.

Image

The SB Dunk Low "Black and Tan" trainers, which launch in the U.S. this week, were ostensibly named after the famous drink combining a dark beer -- usually Guinness -- with a lighter lager.

But "Black and Tan," which is the sneaker's "unofficial" name, has a darker connotation for many Irish people: it's also the name of a British paramilitary unit sent to quell Irish rebellion against British rule in the 1920s, a strike that led to many attacks on civilians.

"Black and Tan" or "Tan" is still a pejorative term for the British in Ireland. As the LA Times notes, "it would be akin, in some circles, to naming a sneaker the Taliban or the Nazi."

After a period of silence, Nike has apologized, as a spokesperson said in a statement to the Telegraph:

"This month Nike is scheduled to release a version of the Nike SB Dunk Low that has been unofficially named by some using a phrase that can be viewed as inappropriate and insensitive. We apologise. No offence was intended."
As far as we can tell, though, the shoe isn't been pulled or subjected to a name change.

I just wanna go on record as saying the "i'm a f*cking leprechaun" is pretty funny. the rest are rubbish, and Urban Outfitters don't have much excuse in 2012.

I find Urban Outfitters stores and consumers to often be pretentious douchebags
