There's also this video of her single with the added bonus of some fine Northern Soul dancing.

How cool is this? I came home from work today and my lovely husband has bought me (us):

Murder Ballads - Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds
B-Sides and Rarities* - Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds
Bops, Babes, Booze & Bovver - Nips 'n' Nipple Erectors
The Rare Oul' Stuff - Shane MacGowan & the Popes (I didn't mention to him that I already have that, one's good - two are better!)

*OK, love Nick and Shane singing "What a Wonderful World"

Very cool, and great taste.

The only new music I've bought for myself is a CD in a can I bought at the grocery store, called "Sweet'n Sour Bossanova", a compilation of old Jobim and Djavan favorites, with Jorge Ben & Gilberto Gil.

Not purchased, but cleaned up & listed to nonetheless: old LPs. Very few in decent condition. The Harry Mancinis have all gone into the trash.
Canta, no llore.

Bought John Doe's new album, A Year In The Wilderness, today.

Very strongly crafted alt-country. A Little More Time is definitely the standout track, with ethos pouring out of every pore. Makes a great case for the merit of country music.

And Shane singing "Lucy". And Mr Cave's "Rainy Night..."

In fact I love the whole of that box set. Some great new CDs you go there, Kathleen. 8)

Yes, I'm very pleased. Had quite the music filled evening along with a great dinner (which HE cooked) and a lovely bottle of wine. <sigh>

I just won on E-Bay: two cool 78s - "The Life Story of Hank Williams" by Hawkshaw Hawkins,
and "The Death of Hank Williams" by Jack Cardwell. I'm going to use them as bookends of a
new 78 comp disk called "tHANKs for Nothin' " or "no tHANKs" or something like that.
The rest is going to be covers of Hank songs, good and bad, which I've accidently acquired
along the way: Dinah Washington's "Cold Cold Heart", which is pretty good; OutPost Scotty
& the Bar-X Boys' out-of-tune assault on "Moanin' The Blues." And so on.

Image
Hawkshaw Hawkins died in an airplane crash with Patsy Cline and Cowboy Copas. He had
a wonderhorse named Tomahawk.

Image
Jack Cardwell had a horse too,
judging from this picture.

Not sure if he was a wonderhorse.

Me, laugh, never! (Well, no more than you've ever laughed at elements of my CD collection...) That Julie Fowlis is a good one too. Haven't quite got it for myself yet.

Most recent acquisitions:
The Hold Steady: Almost Killed Me and Separation Sunday
James McMurtry: Best Of The Sugar Hill Years

The Wagoneers - Good Fortune

And thanks to Amazon, I've now got both of the Wagoneers' CDs, so I can finally replace my used cassettes. And unless a copy of The Bucks' CD ever becomes available, I believe I've gotten all the rare or out-of-print CDs I was searching for.
