I just ordered two cds by The Legendary Shack Shakers. I havent got them yet though . Hope they are good.

The best albums i got last year were
Junkmans Choir - Steel Linin Chant
Ghosts of our Past - BibleCode Sundays #
and WHatever Makes You Happy by THe Big

The last band THe Big are a fantastic live band if you like ska and your in the uk , go and see them. Check the album out too, its a double . The first cd is full on ska and reggae , the second cd is a bit more er experimental, a bit fokly and in places a bit Ian Dury, Very Good all the same.

Whens this Pogues DVD coming out i keep hearing talk of ?

The Popes - Release The Beast

Also finally got round to buying the Remastered and Expanded versions of The Pogues albums:

Rum Sodomy and The Lash
Peace and Love
Waiting For Herb and
Pogue Mahone.

The rest are on their way.

This means I have two copies of Pogue Mahone and Waiting for Herb and when the others arrive I will have three copies of the rest, one on vinyl and two on CD.

Only got them for the extra tracks, but there are some photos I've not seen before on them also, so it was worth it.

"Cheating At Solitaire"
Mike Ness

I honestly don't know why I decided to re-visit Social Distortion. I thought they were gone many years ago. Record shop "cool guy" suggested this album, and I couldn't be more pleased. Even has a cut with some guy named Bruce Springsteen.
Fantastic album, and highly recommended :)

I WANTED to get 2 78s by the Delmore Brothers, including "The Storms Are On The Ocean" - my favorite Carter Family song. (I didn't even know the Delmores did a version of it.) But I got outbid. So to assuage my deep sense of loss, I got a 78 of Riley Puckett ("The Hillbilly Caruso", blind lead guitarist for Gid Tanner & the Skillet Lickers) doing "Jesse James" and a beat up copy of Jimmie Rodgers' "In The Jailhouse Now".

Actually I think they do.

I've got the CD's without the extra tracks too and I definitely noticed a big difference.

My sweetheart and I added another gem to our collection of Memphis Minnie 78s (she's a particular favorite of both of ours - ya'oughta hear my sweetie sing "Me & My Chauffer") - Minnie's last recording, a 78 released on J.O.B. Records in (I believe) 1952. "Kissing In The Dark"/ "A World of Trouble". Fantastic.

I also got my first Bessie Smith 78 - the immortal and amazing "Gimme A Pigfoot And A Bottle of Beer".

"Gimme a reefer and a gang o' gin/ lay me cause I'm in my sin".

O'Blivion, you make me smile with your love of the old music and your talk of your "sweetie."

One of my Christmas gifts from my husband is a wonderful collection of Christmas tunes from 1917-1959: Where Will You Be Christmas Day? Included: Christmas Is A-Coming by Leadbelly, Papa Ain't No Santa Claus (And Mama Ain't No Christmas Tree) by Butterbeans and Susie, and Happy New Year by Lightnin' Hopkins. It is my new most liked Christmas cd.
