Just bought the new Beach Boys album, which sees Brian Wilson return to the fold. But i got it as a bday gift for my father. He doesn't really listen to music made after the 60s.

That's great. I'd email it to my dad, but he's never managed the email. Maybe mom could show it to him...

Now i've just picked up a copy of "Ameican Woman" by the Guess Who. Nice clean old vinyl copy which i found for the totally reasonable price of $9. I actually have most of their albums from the classic era, but somehow never owned this one. The CD reissues are all crap, with the exception of a few that were re-mastered in 2000, but they sold out fast and are now acually quite expensive.

I realize they are considered somewhat cheesy, but i grew up with the songs and besides, i'm a sucker for a great rhythm section, and Gary Peterson (drums) with Jim Kale or especially Bill Wallace (bass) are a classic combo.

Lovely album. Was privileged to see Nic Jones performing last Sunday, on the final night of the Cambridge Folk Festival. His voice is inevitably frailer, his son plays guitar for him now, and he walks with some difficulty and the aid of a stick, but he still has it. His is an amazing story, and the set was one of the most moving gig experiences I've ever had.

Yeah,I'm sentimental for The Guess Who as well. Great memories of listening to these guys during my elementary school years.

Skinny Lister's 'Forge & Flagon', i almost didn't buy this album, when a reviewer compared 'Skinny' to Bumfluff & Sons. How wrong was ich?Much, much better in my opinion and besides anyone who has the wonderfull Kathryn Tickell as a guest musician gets the thumbs up from me.

Lau: Race The Loser

Brilliant new album from a fantastic and truly inventive trio. This has quickly become a favourite.

And a Lau gig is one of the most fun evenings you are ever likely to have. Don't miss them if they're anywhere near you.

Recently I bought some Kate Bush, Mike Oldfield, The Beatles and The Kinks records. The next record I will buy will be from Kirsty Maccoll I think.
