I wonder if Terry George is the guy I saw rough up some drunk guy that was bothering Joaquin in the stage right VIP?philipcheron wrote:Terry George introduced us to Joaquin [Phoenix] after one of our New York shows in March and I found him charming.
I found myself standing next to this shortish (well - to me most people are shortish) fellow, dark complexion, looked kinda familiar. Couldn't shake the feeling that somehow I must have met him or something. Anyway - The Show! No time to wonder who the guy next to me is!
After a time some drunk guy begins pestering the young familiar guy and just won't leave him be. A middle-aged man with an Irish accent says to me "Hey! Tell your mate there to piss off!" (or something like that - hard to make it out).
"I have no idea who that guy is." I tell him.
"Oh."
And with that the Irish guy pushes past me, grabs the drunk guy by the shirt and pushes him into the corner of the lounge, where two walls meet. Some struggle happens (drunken flailing vs. determined weight holding down), and then there's a squad of meat-heads that carry the drunk guy out of the theatre.
After the show, as we're all walking down the stairs, I ask the Irish guy what was going on. I explain that I couldn't hear him well and was a little confused by the events.
"Oh! That! Oh. That was just a ... oh, never mind. Naught to do with you mate!"
It was only later that I figured out the young guy was Joaquin Phoenix. And only just now remembered that the name on the table in the lounge was Terry George. Hmmmm.
