Way too many to list. Lots of reggae, ska, dub and punk. All vinyl of course.
And I don't want no grave
Just throw my ashes in the field
And hope there's some soul left to save

A 1981 7" by Juice On The Loose

A-Side - Cowboys & Indians - written & sung by Geraint Watkins, great fiddle by Charlie Hart
B-Side - Sweet Love In The Valley - written & sung by Ron Kavana, some great blues mandolin.

Followed up with their 1980 7".

A-side: Any Way The Wind Blows - a blues written by Kavana, the rhythm carried on mandolin the melody on accordion
B-side: Fermoy - a trad. tune given the electric guitar/blues band treatment

Phil "Swill" Odgers: Don't Let the Bastards Grind You Down

Double demo album: 18 tracks from which 10 will be chosen to make up an album to be released later this year. Some great tracks on there, going to be a hard choice. A pledge thing.

Bought this online the day of release (Friday the 8th) and it arrived yesterday.

Started listening today in the car on the commute in to work. So sad.

I gave it a listen the other day too. I do think it's amazing, and fitting, that he made a work of art out of his illness/death. True to form, he continued to do what he wanted, thematically and musically, right to the end. Inspiring. And the album itself is lovely. I haven't actually listened to The Next Day, so I don't know how much of a stylistic left-turn Blackstar is from that, but it sure stands apart from anything he's done previously.

Later That Same Life : Ron Hynes, the last offering from the legendary Man of a Thousand Songs.A likely candidate for my album of the year, when i first played it ,i cried throughout, this man was a GENIUS!.

Yeah, saw that at Taz Records in Halifax yesterday. Didn't realise it was new.

I just about saw Ron at a small place near Peggy's Cove in 2014 but it was cancelled due to his illness :(

My favorite he ever recorded was a one-off of Tickle Cove Pond for a Nfld compilation Another Time.

"Mel Collins: Saxes & flute, Robert Fripp: Guitar & keyboards, Gavin Harrison: Drums, Jakko Jakszyk: Guitar & voice, Tony Levin: Basses & stick, Pat Mastelotto: Drums, Bill Rieflin: Drums & keyboards

This is the first full concert release by the current line-up of King Crimson. This Official Collectors’ Bootleg captures King Crimson on a single night in the middle of the band’s Canadian tour in November 2015. With the exception of one small edit following an announcement before the band take the stage, the running time of this concert is exactly as it was heard in the hall by those fortunate enough to have been there. Even by the high standards set by King Crimson’s current line-up, this concert was agreed by all involved to have that extra special ingredient, making it the perfect choice when seeking an official release to counter the poorly recorded bootlegs that have begun to circulate."

With thanks to DZM,* i have just rec'd my Amazon.ca order of "Levon Helm & The RCO All-Stars - Live at the Palladium NYC, New Years Eve 1977".

The RCO All-Stars, by the way, are Mac Rebenac (aka Dr. John), Paul Butterfield, Steve Cropper, Donald Duck Dunn, Fred Carter Jr., Lou Marini, Tom Malone, Alan Rubin, and the great Howard Johnson. Their studio album, what you woulda thunk would be astounding, somehow didn't work, although it's not without a few highlights. So thank goodness this show was taped, and the tapes survived the fire that burned down Helm's home in the 90s, b/c the live show is a joy.

* You know, i did say i was gonna spend that credit on some Canadian music, but - despite his Arkansas drawl & the fact that none of the Canadians in The Band ever moved back to Canada - Levon has something of an honorary status up here, what with him being part of one of "our" biggest groups ever..
