Snap! I've just ordered those two, along with the new Damien Dempsey album.

I picked up two "albums" today. The first was Paul Westerberg's new one, 49:00. It is only available in MP3 form, from Amazon.com. It's a single MP3 track, though it is 45 minutes of songs and clips of other songs mashed together. Oh, and it was only $0.49! Very interesting!

http://www.amazon.com/49-00/dp/B001CZCBEA/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&s=dmusic&qid=1216769766&sr=1-6

And when I got home from work, Look'em in the Eye... was there waiting for me! Haven't had the chance to listen yet, but the packaging was really impressive. Great job!

I completed my Nickel Creek collection by finally getting "This Side," and added a little more reggae by getting Bob Marley's "Legend" CD.

I think I have completed my Billy Bragg collection with the purchase of REACHING TO THE CONVERTED...it was a quick and easy (cheap) eBay purchase...I think that the next album I buy will be the new UB40s 24/7, I just love the Israelites influenced single with Maxi Priest http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UVM9MytYG3M&feature=related It just makes me want to dance and I really don't dance (well).

A selection of acquisitions from the Cambridge Folk Festival:

Mauvais Sort: Mauvais Sort -- Quebecois drinking songs etc. from a band that includes a woman who can play the accordion while holding it behind her head. Which is impressive.

The Waifs: Sundirtwater -- great to see them back over here again.

Wheeler Street: Complaints & Privileges -- debut EP from a teenage folkie band from Kent, who create an incredible sound and who rocked the festival club tent on Saturday night. Possibly the most exciting set of the whole weekend.
Likes the warm feeling but is tired of all the dehydration.

Primal Scream - Beautiful Future. Think the Scream were made for the phrase 'from the sublime to the ridiculous'. This album has both, plus, most things in between.

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds. Dig Lazarus Dig & The Boatman's Call. Thought I should try to get to grips with Nick Cave. Seems like a good choice so far....

My AWOL copy of this finally turned up and I listened to it yesterday. Great album -- and yes, I was reminded of Luke Kelly at several points! Fabulous in-yer-face version of The Foggy Dew. Only slight disappointment for me was the version of Rainy Night in Soho, which was a bit plodding.

Copper Colored Mama / Root Doctor Doctor Clayton RCA Victor 78 rpm

GREAT 78 by one of the guys I collect, Doctor Clayton, with Blind John Davis on piano, Willie James Lacey on guitar, and the great Ransom Knowling on bass.

You claim your regular doctor
makes you feel like a real young girl
You claim your regular doctor
makes you feel like a real young girl
Doctor Clayton's root treatments makes you feel
like an angel flyin' 'round in another world

I got a streamline way of operating,
I don't leave a scar nowhere
I got a streamline way of operating,
I don't leave a scar nowhere
I put my remedy right on the spot,
and I swear the healin' power's there
