Procal Harum singer Gary Brooker, 76. Not particularly a fan, but "Whiter Shade Of Pale" is a stone cold classic and even the courts agree that it's mostly down to the vocal:

In 2006, Procol Harum's former organ player, Matthew Fisher, sued Brooker over the famous Hammond organ solo in A Whiter Shade of Pale. Brooker said he wrote the Bach-inspired melody before Fisher joined the band, but a judge awarded Fisher a share of the credit and royalties, alongside Brooker and lyricist Keith Reid. The judge said Fisher's contribution to the song was "substantial but not, in my judgment, as substantial as that of Mr. Brooker."

Sad news. Some years after my own childhood, but we used to watch Sesame Street, and loved it, with our first two kids. It was somewhat devastating when the youngest of our three decided she didn't like it, so we had no excuse to watch it any more. RIP Luis.

They’re opening a Sesame Place theme park around here this month and we have nobody little enough to justify the cost of going. :D

One of the kids used to freak out at the Egyptian hall scene in Don’t Eat The Pictures.

Visiting the Queens Sesame Street set would be amazing, minus Elmo (of course).

I can't put my finger on why, but it brings me joy to see these people that shone so bright eventually settling down into every-day lives (Soo Catwoman, for example, is described as "now lives in London with her son and daughter.").

Is it that I'm glad to see that they didn't burn out and die in a dingy hotel like Sid? Or ride the pop train into being ever more eccentric (looking at you Siouxsie)? Or just continue to live their life as an angry iconoclast who, while not wrong, also becomes a parody of themselves (hello Johnny)? Or maybe it's just that it makes me feel better that all these people that seemed so dazzling when I was young ended up just being people and it makes me feel better about my own life choices and circumstances. Hard to say.

So long, Jordan.
