That was a real shock. She'd had cancer for some time but had chosen not to make it known publicly.

Great actor. RIP.

Yes, very sad indeed. An absolute star as Aunt Pol in Peaky Blinders. Truly a great. RIP.

Australian singer / songwriter Anita Lane. Perhaps best known for co-writing some of Nick Cave's most enduring songs, Lane has also released some beautiful albums of her own (with former Birthday Club/Bad Seed collaborator Mick Harvey). She was only 61, no cause of death announced.

A friend from the video game industry, Colin McLaughlan. He was a kind yet surly man. I'm glad to have called him a friend over the last ten years.

Sorry for your loss, DzM, but if you have any pull with the next of kin you should see if you can get "A Kind But Surly Man" etched on the gravestone.

Thanks for the kind regards Firehazard and Low D. I find this one has hit me harder than I expected.

Nashville-born, Japan-raised, long-time Canadian slide guitarist Ellen McIllwaine has died at the age of 75. Her signature cover of "Higher Ground" always sounded to me like how Hendrix would have played it. No surprise, as he is only one of the legendary blues players she shared a stage with in her early career.
