Grant Imahara, part of Hipster Hosts from Mythbusters.

I met him years ago in the builder pits of Battlebots. He's a good guy. Too damn young.

Ken Chinn aka S.N.F.U. front man Chi Pig, dead at 57.

Being a gay mixed race punk rocker from Edmonton in the 80s must.not have been easy, but he killed it. A huge influence on Punk rock across the continent and a legend here in Canada, dead at 57.

US civil rights campaigner and congressperson John Lewis died yesterday, age 80, the youngest and last survivor of the Big Six civil rights activists who organized the 1963 March on Washington.

The Rev. C.T. Vivian, an early and key adviser to the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. who organized pivotal civil rights campaigns and spent decades advocating for justice and equality, also died Friday at the age of 95.

I wish the racist Trump supporters who plan to vote for him again could pull their fucking heads out of their so-called patriotic asses and deal with the fact that we had a great black President and more are coming down the pike. Black Presidents, Latino Presidents, Female Presidents, Jewish Presidents, Muslim Presidents, Gay Presidents, Trans Presidents...

Their experiment with the overly made up, bald, obese King of bankruptcy hasn’t really panned out, so what will these morons do?

Double down.

You (or family members) have no fucking job, have to wear a (dreaded) mask to attend your Church of Walmart, kids won’t be leaving the house anytime soon, Republicans are eager to stop extra unemployment funding, Republicans aren’t too keen on a second stimulus check, you and your numpty friends won’t wear masks or social distance and are getting Covid-19 and your chosen one says “...slow the testing down” in public, out loud. So how do you plan to deal with all that?

Trump.

Someone who brags about being able to drink a fucking glass of water, once.
Then throws the glass like a fucking psycho. Totally normal. Not crazy. Everyone throws glass during public events.

I’ll never understand why the Republicans didn’t turn on him, oust him and begin to salvage their party. Trump tweeting the term RINO constantly is such projection. Kushner’s Daddy went to prison for illegal Democratic campaign contributions. Total carpetbaggers.

Cheers to kicking his tremendously fat ass to the curb very soon.

Tim Smith of The Cardiacs, aged just 59.

“Twenty years ago or more he was saying that this absurd music would be so much more impressive emanating from a bunch of old men.”

Sadly he never got there. RIP

RIP Peter Green, 73. A Man of the World, the founder of Fleetwood Mac, one of the most lyrical players with the sweetest tone, and a songwriter so good he spawned hits for artists as diverse as Santana ('Black Magic Woman') and Judas Priest ('The Green Manalishi With the Two Prong Crown').

He struggled with mental health for decades, but had a good run from the late 90s into the 2010s and I was fortunate enough to see him play here in 2002. His voice was weathered and a bit weaker, and he didn't rock out hard like back in the day, but he played beautifully, still rooted very much in the blues but his vision fixed firmly on the music he was doing now, not on his past. He was an artist undiminished. More importantly, he seemed to be enjoying himself.

Possibly my favourite: Oh Well (parts 1 & 2)

Dr C P Lee, formerly the comedy genius leader of Alberto y lost trios Paranoias; author, academic, comedy historian, film buff and compiler of Ace's 2019 "Manchester, a City United in Music" compilation died on Saturday aged 70.

He also regularly lent me and my pal stuff from his formidable record collection. A genuinely lovely bloke who made me laugh more than anyone else in the 70's and 80's. The Berts took the piss out of absolutely everyone but never quite made the big time. I saw them many, many times. Among the many acts I saw support them were The Police and Blondie - I wonder whatever happened to them.

RIP Ceepolini mate, no longer Gobbin' on Life!

It was a bad week for those who like it loud.

Walter Lure, guitarist for Johnny Thunders And The Heartbreakers, died aged 71, due to complications related to cancer.

Drummer Frankie Banali, only remaining member of Quiet Riot's classic lineup still in the band (also played with WASP, Billy Idol and others) died of cancer at age 68.

Founding member / longtime Supersuckers guitarist Ron "Rontrose" Heathman also passed last week, he was only 53. No cause of death announced.

Oh my. That's far too young, very sad news indeed. We saw him at the Cambridge folkfest a few years ago now...
