So clever of them to kill her 22 years after she ratted him out. Nobody will ever suspect it was them...

Long-time SNL music coordinator Hal Wilner died last week of complications from COVID-19, he was 64.

Producer & maker of fabulous musical tributes, maybe you don't think you know who he is, but if you review his discography you will probably find some things you have in your collection.

The Rogues' Gallery collections will be familiar to most here, but his Weird Nightmares: Meditations on Mingus was a favourite of mine for years, and Stay Awake: Various Interpretations of Music from Vintage Disney Films is a more recent favourite.

Lee Konitz, jazz saxophonist with 75-year career, dies of coronavirus aged 92. Maybe best known for playing on Miles Davis' Birth of the Cool, Konitz also played alongside Charles Mingus, Ornette Coleman, Elvin Jones, Dizzy Gillespie and more, and later worked on numerous collaborations with Charlie Haden and Brad Mehldau, as well as making more adventurous and avant-garde work.

May she rest in paradise.

COVID-19 is hitting elderly jazz innovators hard. Henry Grimes and Giuseppi Logan have both died as well.

Interesting how similar their stories were in regard to mental illness. Both from the great city of Philadelphia. :D

... pre-deceased by another African giant, sax player Manu (Emmanuel N’Djoké) Dibango, born 12 December 1933; died 24 March 2020. Like Allen, a long time resident of France.

The French were/are colonial racist bastards (like many of our counties), but at least they know good art.
