We don't know the dates, but a belated RIP for the nameless faceless Iraqi schoolgirl, old white-bearded Iraqi man, and teenage Iraqi prisoner murdered by the Navy Seal Ed Gallagher whose story I posted about on the other thread. I'm sure someone will leap to the defense of this POS, especially since he hasn't faced trial yet, but c'mon, seven Navy Seals don't risk their careers and reputations to hold fast to their stories out of resentment or jealousy.

And while I'm on this subject, an RIP for the untold numbers of nameless faceless civilian casualties throughout the world that are a direct result of the giant criminal enterprise that is the global war on terrorism. There's a discussion panel on this on the NYTimes website:
https://timesevents.nytimes.com/atwartns
Sadly it reminds you that most of the civilian casualties are actually the ones who survived.

Btw more people die of bee stings than terrorism every year, so that must mean the war on terrorism has been a huge success, right?

From Cait on Instagram:

Just got the sad word from Spider that we've lost Stan Brennan. 35 years ago Stan believed in us, managed to control the chaos long enough to get Pogue Mahone into a studio, & together we cut our very first single and album. Thank you Stan - safe journey

Haven't posted for a while, I hope everyone here is OK.

I lost both my parents last week.

My dad passed away in hospital on Monday 6th May after a long illness, and my mum unexpectedly passed away on Friday 10th May.

She wasn't ill at all. I'd only spoken to her the day before about coming around to pick up some of dad's paperwork, and she seemed fine.

She was found in her chair asleep at the care home where they both lived, and although paramedics came and tried to revive her, she was gone.

I've been in a bit of a daze since.

Aw, Heather, this is so sad. I can't imagine the shock. Your mom may not have been ill, but it seems obvious that she died of grief. I hope you can just think of it like your dad came back to get her and that gives you comfort. I wouldn't be surprised if that's exactly what happened.
Please take care of yourself.

Heather, that's terrible. It sounds like your mom died of a broken heart. Although, in a glass half-full sort of way, it sounds like there must have been a LOT of love there, right to the end. And that's something to celebrate.

Best wishes to you, I'm sure this is a very hard mothers day for you.

It's nice to see you again, Heather. Such regrettable circumstances though.

I'm so sorry for your loss.

Grumpy Cat.

Oh man.

That cat was like an alien on Earth.
I mean that as a compliment.

I'd never heard of Grumpy Cat, but I looked her up and was glad to find out that her real name is Tardar Sauce. I can't think of anyone with a better name than that.

I think it was a terrible name. Truly.

Kinda like when somebody names their dog Fucker.

You get a real clear idea of what you’re dealing with.

That cat was awesome.

You mean you get a clear idea of the owner or the pet? I like how odd the name was, it's so random and almost makes up for everyone in the world calling her Grumpy Cat because of a face she can't help she was born with. The phonetic spelling is a bonus.

The woman named her cat (re)Tard.

Yeah I guess you always get a clear idea of the owner. The retard couldn't even spell retard enough to phonetically sort of reverse-spell it Tarder. And here I thought it was inspired by the cat happening to like tartar sauce with her fish sticks or something.

Leon Redbone, the singer/guitarist who kept the esthetic of ragtime, vaudeville and Tin Pan Alley alive, has died. He was allegedly 69, whoever he really was.
