Speaking of power, Swastika laundry in Ireland used a fleet of electric vehicles way back in the 20s/30s, back before the petro chemical companies had taken over the world

Reading about the My Lai Massacre in "on this date" today, and the discussion following (http://www.pogues.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=8421) sent me to the internet, and i was saddened to learn that Lawrence Colburn, the last surviving member of the U.S. army helicopter crew of three who ended the massacre, passed away in the final days of 2016. He was 67.

It's alright, he had no particular place to go.

(Also... Chuck Berry was alive?!)

Was lucky enough to see him play live back in 2004, when he did a short UK tour and came to a local venue. Cracking gig it was. I guess he must've been in his late 70s then, though I had the feeling he was older than that. RIP Mr Berry.
Likes the warm feeling but is tired of all the dehydration.

Cool!
I remember being bummed out that Mr. Berry was on a UK tour when the Pogues played Kansas City in 2009.
Looked into seeing him play at Blueberry Hill a few times after, just never found myself in St. Louis.

I understand his rider included a limousine, but specified there be no driver. I feel this situation must have been a source of stress for his promoters.

So, apparently he recorded a new album last fall, to come out some time this year?

While he was obviously one of the Founding Fathers of Rock n Roll, it seemed he was kinda of a dick. Allegedly screwed over his pianist, Johnny Johnson(?) for credit for many of the classic songs. Never toured with a band, promoters had to supply them. Was into to secretly videotaping women in bathrooms, way before iPhones.
Made Keith Richards look like the mature and responsible one when they did the movie!!

Sad news. His illustrated edition of Frankenstein is, for me, the definitive version.

Chuck Barris, 87

Creator of many game shows, including The Gong Show and the Dating Game. Also, writer of the hit Freddie "Boom Boom" Cannon song "Pallisades Park".

Depending on who you believe, he also worked for the CIA as a hired killer and whacked 33 people. See the move "Confessions of a Dangerous Mind" with Sam Rockwell as Barris.

A couple here in Boston

Gary Doak, former NHL player with Boston, Vancouver, Detroit. 1970 Stanley Cup Champion

Sib Hashian, original drummer for the band Boston. Update, not only did I learn that the Sib is being waked at the same Funeral Home as my late mother, but his daughter Lauren is the longtime girlfriend of actor/wrestler (or wrestler/actor) Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson . Things you learn...
