RIPs to the passengers on the Germanwings flight that crashed in France. So many young people, murdered by the co-pilot. So tragic.

Gary Ross Dahl, the creator of the wildly popular 1970s fad the Pet Rock, has died at age 78 in southern Oregon. I can only imagine he went to his grave bemused at his success.

Soul balledeer Percy Sledge, who rocked the world with his performance of"When a Man Loves a Woman" in 1966, has died. Aged 74, he toured off and on until the end. He passed away a year after surgery for liver cancer, having already survived a 1991 Michael Bolton cover of his beloved hit song.

I heard today that Michael Bolton actually auditioned to be the lead singer for Black Sabbath in 1993. I am pretty sure Ozzy was long gone by then. One Capital killing of a song is enough! RIP Percy.

I think you mean '83 (after Dio left), although apparently that is a only a rumour, although Christian artist Jeff Fenholt apparently DID audition in this period. Little known fact, though, that Mr. Bolton began his music career in the 1970s as singer in the hard rock band "Blackjack", who did open for Ozzy, among other metal acts, and maybe the rumour comes from a mix up of those stories.

I've just today read that Jim McCann passed away on March 5th after a several year long struggle with throat cancer; he was 70.

As well as being a solo artist, McCann was a member of The Dubliners from '74-79, although he continued to play with them from time to time over the years. Apparently, he was also Peter in the original production of Jesus Christ Superstar (alongside his friend and future band mate Luke Kelly).

I met her..at her art exibition in London..1999, I was living there at the time..bizarrely, I ended up at a dinner party with her and a woman who was with her..who said she was Stuart Sutcliffe's sister (or was it his mum..no can't have been his mum, not old enough)...anyway, me and this woman got very drunk together and all the other guests were very annoyed at our drunken antics...true story!

Lois Lilenstein, of the Canadian children's musical trio Sharon, Lois & Bram, has died at age 78. To honour her, her son suggests we all "Turn to your friends and your children and sing 'skinnamarinky dinky dink.'"

I've met a few children's singers through work. Such as: Hap Palmer, Charlotte Diamond, Greg & Steve. They are all pretty damn odd in person 8) , in a good way of course.

To all the victims of the quake in Nepal. Had recently watched a show about the "commercialization" of climbing Mt. Everest, sad to see the guides being treated like pack mules-carrying stuff up so the climbers can have champagne with a candelabra at the Summit.
Even though they make comparatively decent money, their fatality rate is extremely high.
