Lloyd Knibb, founding member of The Skatalites and one of the inventors of ska (and hence rock steady, regae...), died on May 12 of this year, but i just found out.

Image

Lloyd toured until shortly before his death at age 80 - his last show was April 23! After being treated for liver cancer and being told he had only days to live, Lloyd made it back to his home in St. Andrew, Jamaica, to be among his family and friends just hours before his death.

Some things only get better with age. I saw the Skatalites twice in the last few years, and they blew the roof off both times. Knibb joins fellow Skatalites Don Drummond, Jackie Mittoo, Tommy McCook, Roland Alphonso, Jerome 'Jah Jerry' Hinds and Johnny 'Dizzy Johnny' Moore at the great gig in the sky.

Sinead O'Connors recent marriage. Done after 18 days (guess she taught Kim Kardashian (72 days) a lesson). Pretty sure Cher-Greg Allman
hold the celebrity brevity record though 9 days.
