Barry Llewellyn - one of the founders of The Heptones RIP
And I don't want no grave
Just throw my ashes in the field
And hope there's some soul left to save

RIP 'Speedo',i cried my eyes out when i heard the news about Gary Speed,as a Geordie with Welsh Grandparents, i was forever told, sometimes to my annoyance, about the Welsh sportsmen of yesteryear.John Charles,Cliff Jones,Ron Davies,Lynn Davies,Barry John,Gareth Edwards and many more. Recently the likes of Ryan Giggs,Mark Hughes,Ian Rush,Colin Jackson are the latterday sporting heroes. For me,Gary Speed would not be out of place in that company, thanks for the memories.RIP Gary.

The great Hubert Sumlin has passed
at age 80. I got to see Hubert twice
with "Howlin' For Hubert", an ace pick-
up band featuring David Johansen,
Levon Helm, and Jimmy Vivino, and
got the great man to sign my vinyl
copy of Howlin' Wolf's Greatest Hits.
Rest In Peace to a true gentleman
and a legend without parallel.

Mick Jagger and Keith Richards have quietly stepped forward to pay for all of Hubert's funeral expenses.

Richards reportedly paid for Hubert's (probably substantial) medical bills in the past.

TOBY DAY (Policeman) and wife Samantha and daughter Genevieve.

I am still reeling with shock from this. Toby was a Pogues fan, an occasional Medusan and had become something of a friend over the years. He also happens to have been one of the most decent and thoughtful blokes I've met through the extended Pogues network.

The circumstances of the deaths are unbelievably tragic and I don't suppose any of us can imagine the mental horrors that must have preceded this incident. My heart goes out to his surviving children, may they make full recoveries.

Rest in Peace.

Totally shocked by this too, I'd watched the report on the local news but had not put the name and the face together till now. Thoughts go out to the surviving children, and rest to those who have died.
