US soldier Spc. Alyssa Peterson - According to official records, she died on September 15, 2003, from a "non-hostile weapons discharge."
One of the first female soldiers to die in Iraq. She killed herself, after refusing orders to take part in what amounted to torture of prisoners.
Her parents were not made aware of the circumstances surrounding her death until a reporter obtained documents through a Freedom of Information Act request in 2007.

Just got back from London and have received word that an old friend of mine died yesterday.

I don't know his real name, everyone called him Peck. He suffered from a stroke about a month ago and never got over it. He was only in his forties.

RIP Peck.

General Norman Johnson RIP

Lead singer of the Showmen and (more famously) the Chairman of the Board. Died age 67 yesterday in Atlanta.
An all time hero. It's been a bad week for great soul singers.
