RIP Stevo - although some found his TV persona to be a bit annoying, he was a genuine conservationist who put his money into many projects.

The Aussie bush will be missing him.

RIP Steve Irwin.
A truly fine Australian. I am saddened by his untimely and sudden demise. His contribution to the conservation of Australia's incredible diversity of fauna will serve as a fitting testament to one of the last of another dying breed - the great Aussie larrikin.

Exactly what I was about to say Fintan.

All the money he made from his croc shows.. he put back into conservation. A remarkable man...!

sorry for the kids.

R.I.P. Steve Irwin

Somehow, one always knew he wasn't going to age gracefully, with a walker, his memory fading slowly... I guess he packed a lot of life into his 44 years And at least he wasn't chopped to bits. But it's still a shock.

The death of anyone is, of course, regrettable but messing with nature the way he did it was only going to be a matter of time.

RIP

He has a kid who is I think my daughter's age, named Bindi, and another who is about two. Poor kids. Bindi will grow up knowing that her dad was really special and wonderful and all. So sad.

i think what makes irwins' passing all the sadder is that, unlike with most high-profile personalities, his family was constantly by his side on-screen (for better or worse, in some instances). seeing how important his family was to him, and how much they genuinely loved each other brings it home just that little bit more.

RIP you brilliant bastard

Yeah they all seemed to love each other and enjoy life to it's fullest. I think he's lucky in a way though, if I had the choice to die doing something I loved so much, I would. And I bet he would too. He really did a great deal to educate the world.
