Henry Varian 72
Henry was originally from Cork (from a rebel family according to the stories!). He was a mason by trade and built and owned the Village Coach House in Brookline, MA, an Irish Restaurant
long before they were trendy. He, along with my Uncle Bernie McCarthy started the Sound of Erin radio program here in Boston a folk/rebel song alternative to the local Irish Hour which featured mainly Irish showband music. He also was the lead singer/guitarist of the Fenian Folk with my Uncle Bernie, Christy Ryan and Peter Kerr. They recorded an album that included "Dirty Old Town" way before the Pogues. Henry moved to Dublin for a while and then to Nantucket where he passed. Nice picture from 2013 still singing Irish rebel songs to the masses!
