Don't know about Johnny, but the rest of the world did - Etta James was awarded six grammys in the years AFTER her comeback in 1988. Way to go Etta!
Totally kicking myself for NOT going to see her the other year here...

He signed the 13-year-old Esther Phillips as vocalist for his California Rhythm and Blues Caravan touring show in 1949.He started playing drums with a blues band called The Houserockers in the late 1930s. He fronted a swing-era big band in the 1940s, and had his first hit with an instrumental, Harlem Nocturne, which became one of the most distinctive numbers of the big band era. In 1955 he wrote the song that became Etta James’s first chart hit, The Wallflower, popularly known as Roll With Me Henry
Mike from Boston wrote:He also bailed out a couple of the Rolling Stones (I am guessing Keith?) who had been arrested in Rhode Island and were in danger of not making it to a sold out Stones show at the Garden in 1972.
