Last night I saw the Tennessee Three (Johnny Cash's band for over 40 years) at the Islington Academy, they were being supported by the Alabama Three (acoustic wing).

Good show, two good bands for the price of one, I have seen various permutations of the Alabama 3 on many occasions before so knew exactly what to expect, and wasn't disappointed.

Tennessee 3 were very professional, suppose that should be know surprise after 40 + years of gigging. The front-man was Bob Wooton who joined in 1968 as replacement for the (then) recently deceased Luther Perkins. He had a good voice, similar to Cash's but without coming across as someone trying to impersonate The Man in Black.
I ain't doin' no deal with the devil until he starts a loyalty card scheme.

Just bagged tickets to see Al Gore do his lecture thing next week. Again, not exactly a concert, unless he does it in a song-and-dance stylee.

And on the next day it will be Stiff Little Fingers. Which will doubtless be a bit different.

Has anyone had the occasion to see the "circus punk marching band" from Chicago named Mucca Pazza? We may go see them when they come to Iowa, but the matter is still under consideration.

I have a spare ticket to see Stiff Little Fingers in Cambridge next Tuesday. If anyone wants it, give me a shout. Don't all rush at once.

I found out Gaelic Storm is playing in Atlanta on April 20, so that may be a must-see event. They're a great party band. I've seen them live maybe a half-dozen times or so, and they never fail to put on a great show. Between this and the Decemberists, April's looking like a great live-music month.

Considering...True Colors / Sat. June 16 / Boston

Hosted by Margaret Cho

Rufus Wainwright
Erasure
Debbie Harry

I'm still verklempt that I overscheduled myself out of attending Mr. Wainwrights appearance (14 miles away) at The Belly Up Tavern, April 28.That show will be amazing.

So far I have nothing until next month's Norah Jones show in D.C. I was amazed at how expensive those tickets are on Ebay and the scalper sites. I mean, they were ok tickets from my perspective, not front and center but "back and center", but they were still going for $200 each +, last I checked.

Saw them at the Civic Hall in Wolverhampton a few years ago. Most of the audience seemed to be teenage boys wearing pristine Never Mind the Bollocks teeshirts. Me and my friend Kate wanted to gob on the shirts and rip them up a bit for authenticity.
