I lost the excuse of staying in to wash my hair a few years ago now...

Supersuckers @ the Rickshaw here in Vancouver July 19, celebrating their 30th anniversary.

Singer Eddie Spaghetti was fighting throat cancer, and went into remission in the middle of 2016 - the year everybody else died. So i'm thrilled to go here them play the entire "Smoke of Hell" album AND do a country set.

A few days ago went to see Ralph McTell at Cambridge Junction. He's currently touring with his mate Wizz Jones, doing a sort of retrospective of the music that has influenced them and telling the stories along the way. So we had a lot of Woody Guthrie, Robert Johnson, Hank Williams... and a bloomin' good evening it was.

He's also looking pretty good for 70-something.

He looks like himself in the one where he's looking down at his guitar.

Tomorrow night The Killers.... again.

Steve Earle & The Dukes last night at Vancouver's Commodore Ballroom.
http://vancouverweekly.com/copperhead-r ... r-61922-2/

He's doing a Copperhead Road 30th Anniversary thing, and playing the whole album, the way artists do these days. Thing is, side 2 of that album is crap, mostly love songs (and even a Christmas song) that he wrote for the likes of The Oak Ridge Boys. That said, his current Dukes lineup includes pedal steel and fiddle which made for much better renditions of the tunes than the keyboard-heavy 80s production on the original album.

They closed with a blistering cover of "Hey Joe" (Presumably in honor of the Brad Kavanagh hearings?) with the fiddle and pedal steel reaching for the stratosphere, and then Steve comes back out solo with the Canadian country/colk chestnut "Summer Wages" by Ian Tyson, and you gotta love a guy who can pull all that off.

Holy shit. I love George O'Dowd. :)
He's witty as hell. Just can't handle cocaine psychosis, but then... who can?
