A couple of gigs in the last couple of weeks:

Irish folkie Heidi Talbot:

and English singer-songwriter Boo Hewerdine (a local round these parts):

(Meanwhile trying not to be jealous of Cave gigs. And failing.)

Wow, Thursday, June 22, 2017, that's a ways out, i'm amazed tickets are already on sale! Is he travelling from Australia by boat?

The QE theatre seems like a strangely formal setting for a Nick Cave concert, but, as a venue purpose-built for musical performance, it's got great sound & sight-lines.

I saw the NA tour announced and then noticed that he was hitting up Portland and Vancouver, but skipping Seattle. And then I saw that the tickets were going on sale the other day so I decided to jump on them. It looks like the Queen Elizabeth is a massive theatre, so I hope we aren't too far away but still I think it will be fun. We'll take the kids and make a weekend of it.

In honor of the late Dan Hicks, who passed away in February of this year (Fuck 2016!), the Hot Licks & guests are having a special "Holidaze In Hicksville" tribute show tomorrow night (Sun Dec 18). If you can't make it down to San Fran, the show will be live streaming and archived on line!

The ticket prices for these shows (not referring to Vancouver specifically) are unfortunately exorbitant.

Good for them and the capitalist system, but I'm sorry to miss out.

Can Steve & I saw Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds here in Vancouver a few years back and it was certainly the most expensive show I've seen at the Vogue Theatre here ever - $80, general admission!

Great show, mind you.
