Low D wrote:Saw The Specials at The Vogue here in Vancouver last night. A couple of cavets: Yes, Jerry Dammers is not on board. Neville Staple departed the current reunion as of the new year for health reasons. And yes they are just playing the hits, no new material.

But none of that mattered - stellar show! These guys are very much NOT phoning it in. I mean, Terry might seem it, but then disinterested is his style so it's hard to tell, innit? Horace was unstoppable, playing double time on the bass, Lynval was all over the place dancing while playing, and cheerleading the whole event. Neville was missed at times, like during "Rich Girl", but Lynval covered some of his parts well (that guy stole the show, far as I'm concerned). The peak, for me, was Sterotype > Stereo Dub > Man At C & A >, followed by Do Nothing. The band's ability to play dub versions live was amazing, and their dancing during those was hilarious.

Havn't been to a show with Skinheads (of any description) in a long time. I've realized i don't miss them at all!

Thanks for the review - I just got tix to see them in NYC on July 17th - even more psyched now!

Saw Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds tonight at The Ogden Theater in Denver, CO. We were front and center between Nick and Warren Ellis. At one point Nick leaned over and put his finger in Mrs. Cadillac's face, and looked her right in the eyes as he sang. A night we will never forget. Nick and The Bad Seeds were absolutely brilliant. Go them if you get the chance.

Would've seriously gone for tickets for the Hyde Park gig this summer but it clashes with littlest daughter's graduation, which takes precedence.

Mind you, on past experience the promoters of the Hyde Park gigs are evil baxtards who don't take provision of adequate numbers of wheelchair tickets seriously.

And yes, a ticket back to same venue in 1969 would be better. Though I've seen the film so many times I sort of feel I was there. Don't think my mum would've let me go back in the day.

Entirely jealous of those of you who are seeing the Cave.

Jagger's rather odd enunciation live is totally worth $68.20. Another $60 for Richards' head scarf...

Going on Saturday here in Vancouver, can't wait! Two shows in two weeks, unheard of for me these days (and then out to see my friends' new band on Tues, madness i tell you).

Now if he would only do another Grinderman tour. I am still in shit with the wife for seeing Grinderman without her. And I have no desire to see them at Coachella as I hate large venues.

Grinderman has been through here a few times, but apparently he hasn't played Vancouver as "Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds" in 19 years.

Danny Elfman's Music from the Films of Tim Burton - October 7th - Royal Albert Hall
Dan Reed Network - October 12th - Enchanted Festival in Stock

Scored 2 more seats for the sold out show at Royal Albert Hall so we decided to bring the girls to London with us since they are now also friends with Dan Reed and will enjoy seeing the reunion show of his original band Dan Reed Network. However the highlight of this trip will be the opportunity to visit my dear friend Doc Harry's sisters over in Ireland for a few days between the shows. Personally I have never been to England or Ireland so looking for some ideas of what to see on a a short trip to London and Dublin. Any advice would be very welcome.
