Robyn Hitchcock at Cambridge Junction on Saturday. On excellent form, and seemed to be really enjoying himself. I'd forgotten how good he is.

Just got in from a TMTCH/ SLF gig at Preston.
TMTCH support slot went down really well, with a few different songs makeing the set list.
Sadly SLF set was cut short due to Ali being too ill to carry on . Get well soon Ali . Hanx.

I think they're on tour. They played Eric's (Liverpool) last night.

They're in the middle of a tour supporting SLF. Them and Ed Tudor Pole. Should be a good night.

The Band From County Hell, who we off to see tonite, supported SLF on tour a couple of years ago..they'll be pleased at hearing of such luminaries as Ed Pole Tudor and TMTCH doing same!

Saw The Specials at The Vogue here in Vancouver last night. A couple of cavets: Yes, Jerry Dammers is not on board. Neville Staple departed the current reunion as of the new year for health reasons. And yes they are just playing the hits, no new material.

But none of that mattered - stellar show! These guys are very much NOT phoning it in. I mean, Terry might seem it, but then disinterested is his style so it's hard to tell, innit? Horace was unstoppable, playing double time on the bass, Lynval was all over the place dancing while playing, and cheerleading the whole event. Neville was missed at times, like during "Rich Girl", but Lynval covered some of his parts well (that guy stole the show, far as I'm concerned). The peak, for me, was Sterotype > Stereo Dub > Man At C & A >, followed by Do Nothing. The band's ability to play dub versions live was amazing, and their dancing during those was hilarious.

Havn't been to a show with Skinheads (of any description) in a long time. I've realized i don't miss them at all!
