The band is called Coppelius and play "chamber metal", "operapunkfolkmusic", or "cello metal" or something along those lines.

That sounds interesting.

It is... one thing I heard quite often the last three gigs this weekend was "I've never heard anything like this before!", only topped by "This is the coolest music I've ever heard!" There is one sample on their site. If you're interested in more, let me know.

It was a huge success, maybe not in numbers, but those who did show up to the gigs (ca 50 came to the first concert and 100 the 2nd and 3rd) mostly left with CDs and a huge grin on their faces. I had a brilliant time; they do know how to put on a good show.

My Sweetie and I are going to see "Zappa Plays Zappa" next weekend at the Tower Theater in Philly. Dweezil. with a band of musicians (including Steve Vai) who played with the maestro, doing a whole evening of Frank Zappa songs. Should be good.

These are a few of the shows I would like to go to that are coming up:
Blondie
Wilco
Peaches
Pharoah Sanders
Mindless Self Indulgence

O'Blivion, let us know how the "Zappa" thing goes. The closest they are coming to is Toronto, but it's still at least a 6 hour drive, so no go for moi. :(

Dwight Yoakam is in town tomorrow and I would have liked to have seen him. Unfortunately, today is day 14 in a row at work. Gotta work overtime to make it out West in October. The sacrifices of being a blue-collar Joe.
Gonna let loose next Saturday when we go see Robin Trower :)
Saw him a couple years ago and he still rips a Stratocaster apart.

The Streets are ACE!!!!! It was so much fun. I was laughing so hard. Mike was hitting on English chicks in the front and one was with her boyfriend so there was teasing about that. He kept giving people in the audience Brandy and teasing us how Americans are so reserved and made us jump around and do dumb things. haha

The set and their outfits were all Miami-Vice or LA 80s it was fab. They played almost all new songs with Fit But You Know It their encore.

He made a chick in a skirt crowd surf with him. Shite for merch unfortunately. The crowd was almost all English.

One guy in the band sang a recap of the England football game but in his soul voice...singing "he carried the ball for 40 yards", holding out the notes. haha

I loved it.
