The venue okay is it?

Yeah, Caukill, it's not a bad venue at all, as long as they get the sound right.

And yep, Cambridge is a good place to visit, though the parking's terrible.

The Corn Exchange is one of my regular haunts - I've been to some great gigs there. And a John Martyn gig is usually a good 'un. :)

Only problem is some bastards given me a sour throat.

You should enjoy it Heather, he's been in fine form. He and Declan put on a great show.

As for the throat, take some honey...then it'll be sweet and sour.

Christy Moore was really good, he played for about two hours.

We left before the encores so as we could get to the pub before it closed, so I haven't a clue what he did for encores.

Two of the highlights, Pair Of Brown Eyes and Faithful Departed.

It's a great show indeed. Looking forward to my next dose hugely.

'Pair Of Brown Eyes' he does a lovely version of. It's a song that IMO seems written for his style of delivery. His 'Faithful Departed' - dating back to the Moving Hearts days - other than in it's previously noted variance from Sensei Phil's written words, is also a song that suits him well. He sure knows how to pick great work, as well as pen it. :)

Managed to catch him at Bestival in September and he was very good but i wasn't familiar with much of his music then. I bought two albums last week ('the John Martyn cd and 'Solid 'air') but i sense i'll buy another two or three this year. Think 'One world' may be next......

Tomorrow, Saturday 18th November: Rachel Unthank and the Winterset. :)

Actually, no disrespect, but I'd rather be seeing the Radiators.

Awhile back, we saw David Sedaris at the glorious old Paramount Theatre in Cedar Rapids. He was so wonderful! He read four stories, including a new one he'd written for This American Life, about his experience job shadowing at a medical examiner's office. (It has since been broadcast on that show. Maybe you can listen to it at its website.) One of my favorite quotes: "...extensive mildew on the face of a recluse." If you like his humor (and I don't know how you wouldn't), see him live when you get the chance.
