I'm about to get in the car and take my 12 year old son to a casino to see... Weird Al! I'm a bit worried 'cause i may not even know many of the newer songs he is parodying, but i always love a good polka medley, so i'm sure it'll be fun.

yesterday I've seen the Straycats in their (supposed to be) last tour in europe, and it was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G.

The guys still know how to rock, definitely!

Most of their remaining tourdates (including the UK) are already sold-out!

Oh, lucky man. A Cave gig is a delight.

Next gig for me is Ms Eliza Carthy.
Likes the warm feeling but is tired of all the dehydration.

Nice, not a bad gig. I saw Twisted (fucking) Sister a few years back and like the saying goes, if its not fun... its funny. I was mostly struck by the self delusion. Those guys traveled to Bumfuck, Montana and put on a show for a couple hundred curious local drunks but completely acted like there were nothing but topless teenage girls filling Giants Stadium along with all their hardcore dedicated fans.

Is it just me or does Dee Snyder look more and more like Tammy Faye the older he gets?

I'm really jealous of the Nick Cave show. I have no way of doing it and it is my best chance of seeing him in years, and probably my best chance for a lot more years to come. :(

You should find an excuse to come down for the show. We will be driving 700 miles, which I expect will be well worth it. I only bought my first Nick Cave CD today but have been intrigued by him for many years now. Anyone seen any of his screenplays?

A reason to give thanks:

I just found out that Howlin' For Hubert is playing at BB King's on
Times Square the day before Thanksgiving.

I've seen this line-up twice before and it's AMAZING: Howlin' Wolf's
right-hand man Hubert Sumlin, backed by Levon Helm on
drums, NY Doll David Johansen on vocals, and Jimmy Vivino as
bandleader.

Not to be missed! An amazing night of blues!

I've been fortunate to have met a gal who likes going to concerts, so I've seen a few this summer. The Hayes Carll/Alejandro Escovedo was brilliant, and I'll probably be hard-pressed to pick a better 1-2 combo than this this year.

Still to come this year: Great Big Sea, The Clumsy Lovers, Chris Hillman/Herb Peterson, Michael Martin Murphey, the musical "Cats" (the things we do for love :) ).

I saw them maybe 5 years ago at the Vancouver Island/Comox Valley music festival, and they were great. Esp. their bluegrass versions of the old Byrds tunes, those were great. Think i prefer 'em, even!

We'll be taking our kids to that one later this year. The things we do for love, indeed.

We're going to go see Alejandro here in Vancouver on Sep 16, at the BIltmore. Are you I on the same concert circuit or what?

Ms Eliza Carthy last night, with her new band who are currently calling themselves the Bearded Ladies, apparently. A lot of stuff from her new album, which the more I hear the more I love it.

Excellent gig, and much good banter. 8)
