The second-best book of non-fiction ever composed. Yes, you guessed it, Finnegans Wake by James Joyce.
“An’ this is the last of Brummy,” he said, leaning on his spade and looking away over the tops of the ragged gums on the distant range.

'How Mumbo Jumbo Conquered the World' by Francis Wheen.

Heard someone reviewing it on the radio, described it as 'the antidote to everything you read in the Daily Mail' I thought yup, that's good enough for me.

I read Art Spiegelman's graphic novel "Maus".
Then they'll take you to Cloughprior
Shove you in the ground
But you'll stick your head back out and shout
"Let's have another round!"

The Damned Utd by David Peace.

Excellent book, highly recommended for anyone who likes football. And especially anyone who remembers the 70s. :)
Likes the warm feeling but is tired of all the dehydration.

Well, he's impersonated everyone else successfully, so let him loose on Cloughie

Glad you enjoyed the book, Firehazard. I reckon it was my book of the year. Still can't get into Peace's crime fic, though.

Well, yes. I suppose I could have been more specific, but I don't generally use the term "soccer", even when talking to my rugby- or gaelic-loving friends. :)

Anyway, The Damned Utd is a very good read. And the way the author seems to get under the skin of his subject almost makes it seem strange to find it on the fiction shelves.
