Interesting, I love dub as well :-)

I'm reading a book called "The midshipmen of captain Bontekoe" - it´s a lovely novel about young people in 17th centure, their ship gets sunk by stupidity of one, and they start their journey on asian continent. It somewhat resembles some of Verne´s stuff, but it´s older, of course. I love such books of travels :-)

Has anyone read:

The Shock Doctrine: The Rise of Disaster Capitalism (2007)
Author: Naomi Klein

And if so is it worth buying?
And I don't want no grave
Just throw my ashes in the field
And hope there's some soul left to save

You might try going shares with someone, borrowing a copy from a friend or the library, getting it used (most used bookstores will put your request on a list so that if a copy comes in they'll call you) or get it used on Abebooks. And if you don't like it, just sell it again either locally or with Abebooks. Local used bookstores will generally take your name if you have a request for a title that they don't have and call you if a copy comes in.

You already know what I'd say about Klein  : goferit! Not that I agree with everything she says.

I'm reading David Markson's Vanishing Point. Superb. Experimental. I got it at the wondrous Strand Books in New York. Spent hours in there, bought a ton of books, but didn't spend a fortune. Heavenly! I plan on returning.

Yes, what I really meant was "is it worth reading"? Our little town of 20,000 only has one used book store that I know of so 99% of my book purchases happen "on line".

I actually saw Linton a few years back. He kept us waiting for a couple of hours, but it was a good show. I understand he doesn't/didn't play many shows.

I really like some of Linton's songs.

Little Cupcakes, Billie, Low D: I won't write more about dub artists just here, but it's so cool to find people with similar musical tastes! Then again, that's why we're here eh?.

Thought you dub fans might enjoy this site I ran across.

Finished re-reading "The Catcher in the Rye". That book always seems to be on my side when there's some important thing going on in my life.
Also finished "Trainspotting" by Irvine Welsh, and would like to re-read it in English. I had read Marabou Stork Nightmares last month, and now feel very curious to go on reading Welsh's books.

Now I'm on "Watership Down" and "A drink with Shane MacGowan". The latter of the two is quite disappointing so far. What have I bought it for?
Then they'll take you to Cloughprior

But you'll stick your head back out and shout

I liked A Drink With Shane MacGowan. However, I think that if I were Victoria I would've had to edit some of it and not been quite so honest.

Utterly Monkey by Nick(i think it was NicK) Laird
How To Be Good by ?/? someone famous i cant remember
now i am reading something called The Family Way by Tony Parsons

Apparently they are making a film of a really funny book i read called Restraint Of Beasts by Magnus Mills so go read the book first in case the film ruins it. Should be good though i wwill watch it. Rhys Ifans is gonna be in it.
