I'm currently reading...

Easy Riders, Raging Bulls:How the Sex-Drugs-and-Rock'N'Roll Generation Saved Hollywood, Peter Biskind

Very interesting...it covers everybody.

"Coppola thought it would be easy, just wave his Oscars in front of say,Steve McQueen. But he was in for a surprise. He failed with McQueen,Pacino,Nicholson, and Redford, none of whom was eager to spend months in the jungle with Coppola."...

..."Pacino said, "I know what this is going to be like. You're gonna be up there in a helicopter telling me what to do, and I'm gonna be down there in a swamp for five months."...

..."Furious,Francis threw his Oscars out the window, until all but one lay on the sidewalk,shattered."...

I'm reading a book called Pig City, by Andrew Stafford. It chronicles the Brisbane (Australia) music scene from the ultra right-wing conservative poltical climate of the 60s through to now. Fantastic and fascinating read. Features go-betweens, the saints, custard, powderfinger etc. Recommend it to anyone, even if the subject matter is unfamiliar. Should be available on amazon methinks.

8 War and Peace, Leo Tolstoy

Guilty...I meant to read it before my last trip to Dublin...didn't quite work out.Though I did stay in "Buck Mulligans" house. Not that it meant anything to ignorant ol' me.

I like the 100 most banned books lists, they are crazy!

Yep, I'd hold my hand up to not having finished a Julian Barnes book.

I finished his PI novels, written under the pseudonym Dan Kavanagh, but that's about it. I did finish Captain Corelli's Mandolin (no, I dunno why I bothered), but did bounce it off a convenient wall at the end.

Currently reading Grotesque by Japanese writer Natsuo Kirino.

I've never tried any of those. But I've found his others basically unreadable.

Just finished Stuart: A Life Backwards by Alexander Masters. Moving and disturbing account of a life outside The System and on the streets of Cambridge.
