Worst song covers in history

Post Mon Feb 17, 2020 9:48 pm

Umm, Eddie Vedder and Chris... the Coldplay guy (who ruined the Super Bowl halftime show that one time by crouching down and knuckle dragging between Beyonce and Bruno Mars) covering Crowded House’s Don’t Dream It’s Over.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qIjYEVZgdjc

I’d give it a :? :? :? :? out of ten.

I gotta say that Black 47's cover of For What It's Worth is pretty terrible.

And I have no idea why, but a CD of people covering Eagle's songs has ended up at my house. Every single track on it should not exist.

Bap Kennedy & Steve Earle doing "Dirty Old Town"

Love both those artists and that song, but damn...

The country one?
Because Tanya Tucker’s cover of Already Gone is fine.
She can do no wrong.
I freaking love Tanya Tucker.

I had a job where one of the Eagles was a client. In fact, the best Eagle... Joe Walsh. Never saw him.

The weird thing about Eagles stadium concerts is you’re so stoned it feels like you’re inside a radio or is that just me?
One and done, though.

Come Together
Weird Al, Alice Cooper & Steven Tyler
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SX63mUW0-B0

Weird Al is the only good thing about this.

Was listening to Weird Al’s Trapped in the Drive-Thru the other day. Genius.

Alice Cooper covered Born This Way at Bonnaroo.

There Is a Light That Never Goes Out
Guest singer, one... Eddie Vedder.

:? :? :? :? :? :? :? but saved by Marr, obviously.

Vedder has the vocal range of a stuck duck.

Dave Grohl/FF - Darling Nikki
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XhBr3lVF1Ww

Just read that Prince’s original was the song that sent old Tipper over the edge. Interesting.

His and Vedder’s fans are delusional when they say these covers are good.

Now, Will Farrell and Grohl’s cover of Leather and Lace was superb.

I stand to be corrected but any cover of Fairytale Of New York. Especially Ronan Keating's.

Jesus.

I thought that was a fake cover by that guy who dresses up like, Ozzy, John Lennon or the Oasis brothers and what not.

Holy hell.

Bon Jovi also did a terrible cover of Levon and publicly said he wished he’d written that song.

Motherfucker co-wrote (with Richie Sambora and Desmond Child) Livin’ on a Prayer and thinks he can compete with Taupin?

Oh yeah, we’re halfway there, oh yeah livin’ on a prayer
Take my hand, we’ll make it I swear
Oh yeah livin’ on a prayer
and stuff like that

Sinéad O’Connor did an amazing cover of Sacrifice on that Taupin/John tribute album.

She improved it.

Christy Moore's live cover (at The Point) was marvellous I thought.

Agreed! I always liked how he turned it from duet to solo (which JBJ did for all the good it did him). Christy definitely made the song his own, and for a long time it was the only cover version I liked.

Florence & the Machine with Billy Bragg have since pulled it off as a duet.

Been a JBJ fan for some years. I've heard him say "wish I had written that" about quite a few songs.
