Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules

Of all the kids movies I have been forced to go to this one may be my favorite. Many bust out loud laughing moments and how can you beat a movie that includes a band with the name of "Loaded Diaper".
And I don't want no grave
Just throw my ashes in the field
And hope there's some soul left to save

I Am Legend

It was alright, I guess. Not great. The very obvious CGI effects were really off-putting.

The best part of the film was the Bob Marley music.

The Killing (BBC/Denmark) - televisual crack cocaine.

Do we have a thread for TV?

Arthur - the original with Dudley Moore & Liza Minnelli. 'Cause my son saw a preview for the new one & thought it looked good, but the reviews all said the older one is edgier. They just can't bring themselves to show somebody DUI today.

I'd seen it with my parents back when it was new, but only remembered the slapstick parts. It was good, though the flow of time was a bit confusing at times.

Watching a collection of Warren Zevon's appearances on Letterman. He was such a great performer, it's great to see him with such full and talented backing. Highlight might be "Mr. Bad Example"; the albums keyboard horns are replaced with a live horn section, and a great song becomes greater. Wish he had the budgets for this sort of line up on all his albums.

Indecently, Warren was the only substituted bandleader on The Late Show ever, filling in for Paul Shaeffer on a few occasions.

Tron: Legacy

Meh. Better than any of the Star Wars prequels. And pretty. Not particularly engaging though. And I kept waiting for this supposedly super awesome Daft Punk soundtrack. Maybe they put that in some other Tron movie. And why was David Bowie a club owner?

Meh.

Yeah, I heard a lot about the Daft Punk soundtrack as well before seeing the movie, and was not blown away as I expected to be. And I was also not very engaged by the story as I'd hoped I'd be as well. I think "meh" about sums it up.
