Yeah, exactly Philip. If I was asked right now to remember one of the jokes, I would offer a vague pastiche of references to being a more famous Austrian than Adolf and semi-double-Deutsch sounding double entendrès.

Fun, but extremely forgettable, which is slightly sad as I said because the characters themselves are good like Peck's Paste (a little goes a long way). Bionn blas ar an mbeagán.

Once Upon A TIme In The West took a ride on the DVD player the other night. No matter what I'm doing, it stops when this film comes on.

I've been watching the first four series of the Wire in a very condensed period. I've done little else for a couple of weeks. It was badly scheduled over here and I had previously only seen odd episodes. I am completely knocked out by it and can't wait for series 5 to drop through my letterbox. I will then watch it all over again.

I am jelous of you that you've more to see for the first time. It was one of those rare series that left me sad when it was over - not 'cause of any ending, but just because i miss watching it!

My wife and I are just diggin into it - the 4th DVD from the first series just arrived via Netflix. LOVE it. Tough to schedule, though, as we have to wait 'till the Kids are asleep.

Reminds me of another show about Baltimore - Homicide: Life On The Street. That show was fantastic. I still miss it.

What, you don't want them exposed to McNaulty's sex life? :D

We just watched Shaun of the Dead and i was struck by how much better the Brits can do an american film. I mean, a romantic comedy that's not a stalker film, and a zombie movie with, like actual characters & story, all in one? American studios usually can't get even one of those right, much less both in one film! My son nearly died laughing at several points.

I finally watched Brokeback Mountain on Bravo, because watching two hunky cowboys going at it on the silver screen seemed kinda embarrassing at the time! However, after reading James Fearnley's blog ( I know, I know, what ancient cave did I just emerge from) about how fixated Shane seemed to be on this movie, I decided to give it a go. It was actually quite good, I thought. The heart wants what it wants. I'm guessing Shane could relate to the part in the movie where the deceased man's wife says " He always said he wanted his ashes scattered over a place called Brokeback Mountain. I wonder if it's some fantasy place he made up where there are springs that bubble up with whiskey", or something to that effect.

That was the whole attraction! What a wonderful world we're living in where this could happen. I mean, in a normal theatre.

Actually, I have yet to see this movie, probably 'cause i read the short story back in 2001 and cried a river of tears, and i don't know if i could take myself back there to do it all again.

Low D, what's so bad about tears? Intense emotion is what life is all about, the good the bad and the ugly. Oops, wrong movie. However, It seemed like it might be strange lining up to see Brokeback Mountain with all eyes investigating each new arrival, wondering, hmmm, are they or aren't they? (Not that it would matter, I'm female and usually take my husband to movie outings.) It just seemed so voyeuristic! Or maybe it's my Catholic upbringing and not wanting to see any familiar faces.(Father Richard, fancy seeing you here!)
