Great Movie :)

Loved the scene where Dennis Hopper's character, knowing he is about to get whacked, tells off the mobster played by Christopher Walken. 2 great actors.

Johan From Sweden wrote:51 st State, i love that movie 8) Great actors, me think. (except for Meatloaf that is)

Did you mean Formula 51 with Samuel L. Jackson

Yeep, It´s called 51 st State in Sweden so i thought that that was the name of the title even in UK and US. Love Robert Carlyle´s acting.

The scene you described is awsome. :D

Johan

It was named the 51st State in the UK. Just an F.Y.I.

When Saturday Comes
Then they'll take you to Cloughprior
Shove you in the ground
But you'll stick your head back out and shout
"Let's have another round!"

Once (2006)
A big disappointment, especially after all the hype and enthusiastic reviews. :( (The film won the Audience Award at the Sundance Festival and has a very high rating at all kinds of movie websites.) Maybe it’s because the slowish over-emotional music, a crucial part of the film, just didn’t do it for me. What is left then – a weak, schematic story of a Dublin busker and a Czech immigrant finding inspiration in playing and composing together and almost establishing a romantic relationship. The movie tries to avoid teary and saccharine approach, but abounds in cliches and unprobable moments. (The girl dragging a broken vacuum-cleaner through busy Dublin streets like a dog on a leash is about as ridiculous as a bank manager being moved by listening to a few minutes of a whiny demo from a cheap player.) OK, the movie is supposed to to hit emotions, not to apply to reason. :) But with me, it somehow missed the target. When in the mood for an Irish music film, I’ll stick to The Commitments.

Ex Drummer, "three ‘handicapped’ musicians still need a drummer before they can turn into rock ‘n’ roll stars for the one-off major gig they have in mind. They find the drummer they need in the form of the arrogant and successful writer Dries, who regards it as an experiment to ‘step outside his own happiness’ and descend to the less well endowed world of the plebs".

@ Maldoror,
Did you see ex drummer? What did you think about it? I wrote before I love Brusselmans and thought the film was great!
Last weekend I was visiting your city (what a great city btw) and met 'The man'. He was realy nice and funny.

What a coincidence, I just watched it yesterday. :D I loved the book, but I thought the movie was a bit of a disappointment. Maybe I expected too much...
But the good point is that it's in WEST-FLEMISH! 8)

I saw it in the theater and had to have it so I downloaded it. (it was not yet for sale..) It hardly made any sence to me without subtitles.. :)
I love the (flemish) soundtrack as well. Oh how much I love your language!
