Last night the family watched a double billing of Pee-wee's Christmas Special and my new DVD: The Pee-wee Herman Show Live from the Roxy Theatre. Good for laughs!

The best moment on MTV ever, was when Paul Ruebens came out onstage, as Pee Wee, at whatever awards show it was, and asked "heard any good jokes lately?" So cool. Just last night my niece and I were collecting a bunch of movies for her to take back to college and I had her take Blow because he's in it. I've been taking my nieces to a big Comic-Con in town for years and it never fails that some merchandise booth has the requisite Pee Wee Herman doll, front and center, defiling himself for all to see.
Sex, in many forms, is illegal in America, in porno theatres, public toilets ( jitterbug!), and the oval office corridor.
Poor Pee Wee, just out for a laugh.

Fearless - Jet Li's swan-song, and a beautiful film it was too. A sweeping story of much historical interest, stunningly filmed and warmly enacted. Very enjoyable.

Omagh - I have not cried so bitterly or so often during a film for many years. This saddens me greatly, as did the events it was based on; and the sheer lack of closure to which the families of the victims have been exposed to this day sickens me. That we can treat each other in this way no longer shocks or surprises me, but still fills my heart with darkness. Deeply deeply moving.

The college kids are home. Last night we introduced them to Twin Peaks with the pilot episode and now we wish we had Season I. We just finished Little Miss Sunshine and loved it.
