"12 Monkeys" (Terry Gilliam, 1995) and it has held up quite well indeed. Bruce Willis actually does a great job of portraying the cognitive dissonance of time travel, Brad Pitt is excellent as a manic looney, and David Morse i'm just realizing is in most of the David Simon shows.

I understand there's a tv show of this now, any good?

It’s a bit more fantastical than I expected but the leads are great and the cinematography is gorgeous.

Ma Rainey's Black Bottom

I liked it quite a bit less than I feel I ought to have done. It felt like a play that had not quite made the move to the screen successfully. Everybody else loved it.

The Love Witch (2016)

Fans of 'The Wicker Man', 60s/70s film, full frontal nudity of attractive women and meh guys, femme fatales, etc will find a lot to love in this weird and lovely film.

Happy People: A Year in the Taiga

Werner Herzog / Dmitry Vasyukov (2010)

The film depicts the life of Russian sable trappers in the village of Bakhta, in the Siberian taiga. You think you're tough? You ain't shit. This opens with the main subject using an axe to make himself some skis, which he then uses to ski around his 1500 sq km trapping territory in the far-sub-zero. A fascinating look at a way of life largely unchanged for hundreds of years, but the takeaway is how happy he is, and how much he enjoys his life. Dog lovers will find a lot to enjoy as well, as the trappers depend heavily on their canine companions.

It's on Netflix and Youtube, narrated in English by Herzog. Russian speakers can watch the original 4-part film on Dmitry's YouTube channel under his Russian name Дмитрий Васюков.

The Fly (1986 David Cronenberg version)

Mostly because the young one has a current fascination with Jeff Goldblum, in part due to "The World According to Jeff Goldblum" which we have been watching.

He was good, and the film is not bad, but Goddess damnit every time we watch an 80s film the sexual politics are so bad it's more than distracting, and this was not an exception. So thankful women are now allowed in the writers' rooms.

We've been nostalgia-watching old shows we've enjoyed. There's quite a bit of stalker/creeper/semi-molesty stuff from shows in the early 2000s. Don't have to go back far in time. I dread the inevitable re-watch of M*A*S*H. I expect that will be a shitshow.

We have a cat named Radar who is a complete psycho.

Lovely little beastie.
Free kitten day in Santa Cruz is never really free.

This cat hides and hisses and plays the murder game at 1 A.M. like a champion. Scares visiting dogs and humans alike. This picture is so opposite of his personality it’s bizarro.

My ex-in-laws Dad was close friends with the B.J. Hunnicutt actor... Mike what’s-his-face.
One of the worst characters!

You can’t make this stuff up.

I imagine it just keeps going.

He wasn't in Porky's or anything.

Or some of those early Tom Cruise movies.
Or the bachelor party one with Tom Hanks.
If you watched him as Todd with Gilda Radner on SNL or on Late Night and Late Show w/ Letterman you gotta find him somewhat funny.

He was spotted frisbee golfing after 1 AM in a local park having left the MLB All Star Game, I believe.

The kids that spotted and posed with Murray were getting high like normal people.

Didn't Murray end up at the same college basketball games as Obama because his son and President Obama's brother-in-law's teams were competing?

There are far less than 6 degrees of separation in most instances. 2 -3 max.

Yeah, Bill Murray is a national treasure. My point was that most movies (and television programs) of that era really have not aged well.

It's true, but i continue to be amazed at HOW bad it was. I mean, I laughed at all this shit because I was a kid raised by nincompoops, but where were all the adults? I mean, the women adults get a pass, because they weren't allowed in the writers' rooms, but seriously. Evil pernicious shit. And i don't even revisit the worst of it (Porkys, as mentioned, anything with Leslie Neilson...)

Most output from that era wasn't well to begin with...A lot of the acting was embarrassing. That then a lot in it was just wrong...it just adds up
