Series premiere/mini-series of the 2005 version of Battlestar Gallactica. This show really was very good.

The Season 2 premiere of V. This show remains terrible. Just terrible.

But how does it compare to the 1983 original? I guess i woulda been 10, and i loved it. Mind you, the top TV sci-fi at that point woulda been... the 1978 Battlestar Galactica. Which i also loved.

I loved the 1983 original V mini-series. I was 12 though. And then the ... what? 1985 mini-series? Not as good, but I was still willing to love. And then there was the series. That was just terrible. Even my teenager standards were unwilling to put up with it.

But when I was that age (in 83/84) I loved a lot of terrible television. Reruns of Blahblah Galaba were awesome (they really tried to make an epic space opera out of that show and did a fantastic job right up until the second episode when the fleet had to stop off at the Gambling Planet to rescue all the debauched gamblers). The A-Team was somehow believable, AND it featured Mr. T. Knight Rider had a Trans-Am in it, AND the car talked (somewhere in a shoebox I have a photo of myself in front of that car at the delicate age of "Oh God Seventh Grade Is Terrible"). Hell, I watched The Fall Guy and The Dukes of Hazard.

Geez. Going through that list makes me feel particularly ashamed of my youthful TV watching. It also makes me realize that Hollywood has turned nearly all of those into absolutely terrible movies or into new series (and at least one of the remakes was much, much better than the original). Does the fact that I was a HUGE fan of Carl Sagan's Cosmos and of the BBC production of The Singing Detective earn me back any taste-points?

Is it just me or haven't they tried packaging this show in several forms over the recent decade or more on TV? In any event I agree fully, an awful waste of an hour.

I believe this movie was based on the search Quanah Parker's mother. I recently read the book "Empire of the Summer Moon" which details Quanah Parker and the Rise and Fall of the Comanches. An excellent book.

I most likely saw it as a kid as my dad took me to all the Westerns, however I would have been really young and don;t remember it. Is the movie worth watching?

Not a movie, but the first episode of the new series of Shameless. It set a high standard once again. the stag night with multiple Franks was a genius idea.
