Spirit of the West is an iconic West Coast group but its drummer, Vince Ditrich, has kidney failure and is hooked to a dialysis machine three days a week. (Lauren McMillan/Spirit of the West Facebook)

Vince Ditrich, the iconic West Coast band's drummer, has kidney failure and requires dialysis three days a week.

After Angie Shilliday heard that her old friend was sick, she discovered that she was a donor match.

Shilliday immediately offered Ditritch one of her kidneys.

While Shilliday is a donor match, there are still a couple of tests that need to be done, and she is unsure when the surgery will take place.

Well, i know they're billing their upcoming min-tour as "the last shows", but probably that has more to do with John Mann's early-onset altziemers. Poor gang, they've had a rough go of it. I once met Vince after a gig in Thunder Bay, of all places, and he was lovely and hilarious and super nice, so I too hope it's gone well. And hey, maybe the kidney will improve his looks ;)
