HBO Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony

Watched this at various times over the weekend. Not bad, not great. I don't think there was anything that memorable (say like Prince going nuts on While My Guitar Gently Weeps). Thought Guns and Roses and the Red Hot Chili Peppers were good. The Beastie Boys were inducted but I thought the group playing in their stead sucked. Hey, if someone as obscure (IMO) as Laura Nyro can get in, then the Pogues should be in!!

Watched part of it too...thought it was hilarious that the top two bands, G&R and the Faces, were stood up by their singers (Rod Stewart: "flu"; Axl Rose: psycho douchebag) yet turned in credible performances without them. Fuck 'em!

I love the Faces, Small and otherwise, and was really happy to see them honored.

Liked the fact that they hurried up and made a category (Groups and Bands) to honor the remaining veterans of the Crickets, the Comets, the Miracles and the last Famous Flame standing. Nice move from an organization not known for them.

Rumors are that the Rolling Stones are rehearsing in Weehauken NJ and will be a surprise guest on the SNL finale 5/19. Mick Jagger conveniently hosts. I'll tune in to toast their 50th anniversary...just as I hope to toast the Pogues' someday!

I enjoy the RnR Hall of Fame shows most for the "sideman" and "early influence" categories.

We've been watching the 1st season of "3rd Rock From The Sun" which i never watched. It's actually pretty funny, but i can see that after a couple of seasons it could get old. I think it ran for 7.

John Lithgow is usually great in anything he does, but to me, he'll always be:

The Big Bang Theory (Seasons ! & 2)

Nerd Nirvana.

Everyone in my family appears to be a BBT nut too, from my 80 year old uncle to my 24 year old niece. I'm starting to wonder if this is a matter of some concern.

His aspyness is charming. The thing that keeps me from watching that show regularly are all the characters that I don't care about. More Sheldon Cooper and his girlfriend, please. Whatever Bialik's character's name is...

Jim Parsons attended USD which might have made a difference to my relative who turned down a huge scholarship there last year. We thought he attended UCSD. I can't even wrap my head around Parsons playing Macheath on stage, wow.

I think the popularity of his character says a lot about people dealing with others differences, beyond the fact that Parsons is amazing. I recently saw the episode where they reveal why he hates Will whoever from Star Trek, which was right on target. So funny.

Asperger's Quiz
http://psychcentral.com/quizzes/autism.htm

We all took a different facebook aspy quiz awhile back that scored people a little higher. There were more questions on it that if you had any degree of social conciousness you'd place on the scale. More worry related, social anxiety questions. It seemed to equate stalling action due to a concern for others feelings or being hesitant as aspyness. People thought I should place higher for saying rude things, but you have to have a disconnect between your behavior and others reaction to it to place high. If you are aware that being direct can upset people, but still do it, that's just being an asshole. This quiz is a little more cut and dry. As it should be, I suppose.

Worry not! My 18 year old knows every word of every episode. She doesn't watch anything else. To be fair, it is very, very funny.

He's quite lucky not to have seen Stewart's turn in Harvey. If that's actually true. But you can imagine Stewart in that role never having seen it. Like Bugs Bunny or something. My older sister used to watch that movie a lot, along with The Long, Long Trailer. Random

I wouldn't pay to see that play apart from his appearance and Carol Kane. Wonder who gets the role after he goes back to work? Denzel, Sean Hayes, Shalhoub!

Have you heard that Brooke Shields and Richard Chamberlain are both in Exorcist at the Geffen?
Well, that's certainly something.

Shame he's such a big old Tory now.

I've been caught up with a load of Scandinavian noir recently, with The Killing and The Bridge. Daughter says I should watch Game of Thrones next, which does sound like jolly fun.
