More confirmation of what we've already known:

Curing cancer is bad for business:

and the link within that:

I learned this about an American banker named John McCloy:

"In January 1951, high commissioner of occupied Germany John McCloy announced that only five of the 15 death sentences from the Nuremberg judgments would be carried out. He then reduced the sentences of 64 out of the remaining 74 war criminals. One third of these were to be released immediately. He also reduced the sentences of all remaining convicted doctors who had experimented on concentration camp inmates. McCloy had sat in Adolf Hitler's box at the 1936 Olympic games in Berlin."

Learned that not only is weather manipulation happening now, but it actually used to be common knowledge that it was happening.

"Conspiracy theories are, in fact, a form of optimism: the unrequited hope that someone is in charge. That the world is run by evil masterminds so much smarter than you that something something chess analogy, and the belief, against all evidence otherwise, that more than three people can ever keep a secret. That there's an Invisible Sky Daddy, if not a literal god then at least a charming billionaire."

I don't know who or what jwz is (and it seems I'm not meant to), but I would argue that "conspiracy theories" are actually the opposite of optimism, and your quote itself testifies to that, unless you are in fact that billionaire who likes to flatter himself that he's "charming." For the rest of us, it's just the very bitter reality.

Think about it. It's optimism to believe that governments and leaders are telling the truth and acting in the best interests of the people they serve, or even trying to. And there is plenty of evidence that they're not. All you have to do is ask for information under the Freedom of Information Act and you'll see for yourself. Of course tons of information has been destroyed (which they've fully admitted), and tons "redacted," but there's still tons of damning evidence left.

You don't even need to put in FOIA requests to see the obvious. Just the fact that war is somehow accepted as a necessary fact of life and $600 billion a year in taxpayer money gets allocated to military spending in the US. Here's an article on a highly decorated US marine veteran's realization that "war is a racket":

80 Years Ago A Marine Major General Explained The Ugliest Truth About War
https://www.businessinsider.com/excerpt ... ars-2013-7

And then the Pentagon also manages to "misplace" trillions in just the past twenty or so years.

Exclusive: The Pentagon’s Massive Accounting Fraud Exposed
https://www.thenation.com/article/penta ... get-fraud/

And here's a very easy-to-follow article on some of the kinds of things the US military has used those trillions to do in the past.

The 6 Most Evil Human Experiments Perpetrated By The U.S. Government

None of these are even conspiracy sites.

Anything without PCP will be fine.

I didn't know there was ever PCP in weed. But yeah you wouldn't want any of that stuff. I think the afterschool special with Helen Hunt scared everyone off of it forever. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pl7-fxVnDZw

And I don't know what bath salts or flakka is, but it reminds me of that one episode of The Last OG with Tracey Morgan where they try to make you feel sorry for stockbrokers who end up homeless after a couple of weeks addicted to "designer" crack.

You dose it.

Helen Hunt sucks. I hated her dumb sitcom, her Twister movie and couldn't stand her with Kinnear, Cuba Gooding Jr. and Nicholson in As Good As It Gets.

Hate her boring ass.

We were more into rewatching Mahogany as kids, though I think I saw one where Eve Plumb from The Brady Bunch was a hooker. I dunno.

I never watched Helen Hunt's sitcom or her movies, but she seemed alright on late night talk shows and definitely did a good job in that afterschool special.

I'm not a fan of Diana Ross or her creepily naturally processed-sounding voice, so I've never seen Mahogany. I always thought it was perfect that Phil Collins covered You Can't Hurry Love, since he has that same sort of naturally processed-sounding voice. I wonder if they've ever done a naturally processed-sounding duet. His Genesis bandmate Peter Gabriel's also kind of got one of those voices, but I don't mind him so much because at least he's weird.

Mahogany is super camp.

Billy Dee Williams and the amazing Anthony Perkins are the real stars.
Diana Ross is the world’s oldest ingenue, again. Though, I think this was before her turn as old Dorothy in The Wiz.

There’s an iconic scene between her and Williams (as a Chicago based community organizer :)) and one of her best songs, Theme From Mahogany (Do You Know Where You’re Going To), is featured.

Anyone that likes Valley of the Dolls 1 or 2 would love Mahogany.
It’s so good/bad.

Anthony Perkins is a riot

Oh I didn't know Anthony Perkins was in it. If you haven't already you should see Pretty Poison with him and Tuesday Weld. I haven't even seen Valley of the Dolls yet but I should soon.

Late to this news, but I learned that there really is such thing as paid government internet trolls. Not surprising at all.
